THE FAVORITES

Cascia Hall Commandos

Cascia Hall is one of the most consistent contenders in Oklahoma, no matter what class they are in. But it's been a while since they truly made a deep run and played for the state title. 2026 could be the year and it's a special year in that school with it being the 100th year anniversary. The Commandos have been rolling this season, going 5-0 in the first half of the season and they have back to back big games that will tell us almost everything we need to know. We'll get to see them in person next week when they host Kiefer.

Kiefer Trojans

Speaking of Kiefer, the Trojans have been one of the most dominant teams in this class from the start of the season. The offense is absolutely smashing opponents and they show no signs of slowing down anytime soon. On paper, it looked like they would be tested in non-district play but the closest game was a 22-point win in the season opener against Anadarko. They come to Tulsa to face Cascia Hall next week and that will be one of the marquee games in the second half. This looks like a serious state championship contender.

Lincoln Christian Bulldogs

Lincoln Christian dropped down from 3A to 2A-1 and immediately became the team to beat in this class considering they've won three straight state titles and came into this season with a 42-game winning streak. That winning streak has come to an end but they are still winning big games against really good Oklahoma opponents. Look for the Bulldogs to still be the favorite moving forward in this class. The first four games they played was arguably the toughest start for any team in the state and they came out of that stretch at 3-1.

Washington Warriors

Just like Lincoln Christian, including Washington here feels like clockwork at this point. The Warriors have played in the last six state championship games from 2A to now 2A-1. This season, they expect to make another run to Edmond and contend for the gold ball after settling for silver last year. The only blemish on the record was an overtime loss to Sulphur on the road. They lost to Sulphur last year and rallied to make it back to the state title game. It won't surprise us whatsoever if the Warriors follow that script in 2026.

THE DARK HORSE

Checotah Wildcats

Checotah feels like the ultimate "dark horse" right now when it comes to the first half of the regular season. They are 4-0 on the season and their offense has averaged 50+ points per game so far with dominant wins week after week. But the challenges are going to get ratcheted up this week with a home game against Tahlequah Sequoyah. They also head to Tulsa in the next two weeks to face Victory Christian and then Lincoln Christian. So on one hand, Checotah has been absolutely lights out but now they are starting to face some of the top teams in their respective class and we'll find out just how serious they are in the next few weeks.

MIDSEASON MVP

[player_tooltip player_id='1343433' first='Cash' last='Worley'] - 2027 Quarterback - Kiefer

We mentioned how dominant Kiefer has been so far this season and they've been led by senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1343433' first='Cash' last='Worley'] and we're fired up to get a chance to watch him in person next week. Worley has been so incredibly efficient at the quarterback position and it's pretty clear at this point that he's one of the better athletes in the state's 2027 class. He's committed to Texas State to play tight end but we reported this last week how local schools Oklahoma State and Tulsa are starting to show a lot of interest in the Kiefer product. Worley has been very accurate as a passer and has also torched defenses with his legs. We can't wait to see what he does against Cascia Hall's famous "Blue Swarm" defense.

MIDSEASON OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

[player_tooltip player_id='1522515' first='Cole' last='Rolland'] - 2028 Quarterback - Checotah

We wrote about Checotah junior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1522515' first='Cole' last='Rolland'] earlier this week as a player to watch as the undefeated Wildcats host Tahlequah Sequoyah Friday night. Rolland is off to a great start and is making that junior season leap that we see so many top quarterbacks make at the high school level. He's in his third year as a starter and it looks like it as he has ten passing touchdowns and ten rushing touchdowns in their first four games. Like we mentioned with Checotah under the "Dark Horse" section, we're about to see just how dangerous this team is in the next few weeks. But there's no denying the start that Rolland and the Checotah offense has gotten out to so far this season.

MIDSEASON DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

[player_tooltip player_id='473879' first='Case' last='Alexander'] - 2027 Linebacker - Washington

This one is pretty obvious because as long as Washington senior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='473879' first='Case' last='Alexander'] is playing, he's going to fit this category. Alexander is once again one of the top players in the state and is looking to finish off what has been a long and very successful career with another state championship. We bring this up all the time but don't overlook what Alexander can do on the offensive side of the ball as well. But from the time Alexander started as a freshman, he's been considered one of the state's best linebackers. This season is no different and if the Warriors go on another title run, it's safe to say there won't be many players that have as many starts as the Penn State linebacker commit.

GAME TO CIRCLE

Kiefer AT Cascia Hall - Week Seven

We mentioned both of these teams as the top contenders to watch moving forward so the fact that they are squaring off in midtown Tulsa next week, that's an easy game to circle. When Cascia Hall hosts Kiefer, we could be seeing at least one team that could go on to play for the state championship. Both teams have been dominant in their own ways and when they go head to head, it's going to feel like a heavyweight fight. We're fired up to be in attendance for that game and it's unique considering this is technically a west side district game and we'll see a Tulsa team face a Tulsa suburb squad. This will be a fun game to watch in week seven.
