THE FAVORITES

Adair Warriors

Defending champion Adair is 4-1 on the season and they've won four straight in dominant fashion after dropping a tough game to an Arkansas opponent. The Warriors look a little different than they did in 2025 but they still look like a team that is more than capable of going on a run when November rolls around. Now, they are about to enter the toughest stretch on their schedule. Starting in week seven, they play Keys, Salina and Wyandotte in three consecutive weeks. We're going to be able to learn a lot about the Warriors and where they stack up following that stretch. But right now, they look like the favorite to win that district and potentially a team that could make it back to Edmond to defend that state championship when the calendar flips to December.

Cashion Wildcats

Cashion is 3-2 going into the second half of the regular season and we still have them as one of the top teams in Class 2A-2. They moved up from Class A-1 this year and we immediately thought that they would be a team to watch when you consider the talent they had returning. They spent the entire month of September away from home and had tough losses to Fairview and Kingfisher. Both of those teams are undefeated and look to threaten in their respective class. On paper, we think that the Wildcats could be the favorite in their district but we're about to find out as their district schedule gets tougher over the next month. Despite moving up a class, we think that the Wildcats are going to be a tough team to eliminate and they'll certainly be battle-tested.

Davis Wolves

You have to include the Davis Wolves in this conversation as they try to capture a second state title in the last three seasons. Davis goes into the second half of the regular season in a similar position to Cashion. They are 3-2 on the season but those two losses were to Plainview and Sulphur, two teams in the Class 3A top ten. This is a senior-led team that has the ability to make another trip back to Edmond and contend for the state championship. It wouldn't surprise us if the Wolves dominate their way through the rest of the regular season and go into the playoffs as one of the hottest teams in Class 2A-2. And there's no debate that they have championship pedigree on their side. This team came into the season as the number one team and look to finish in that top spot.

Holdenville Wolverines

Holdenville enters the second half of the regular season as the number one team in this class. They are 5-0 on the season and they don't have very many weaknesses. The offense has been high-scoring, the defense has been shutting teams down and they have some marquee wins with the potential to get more in the next month. The Wolverines have been one of the top winners in 2A-2 football since the class began in 2024. But they are still looking to take that next step and contend for the state championship. They've earned that number one ranking and they look like the team to beat. But there's a very good chance that the Wolverines are going to have to go through some programs that have been there and done that in the playoffs.

THE DARK HORSE

Community Christian Royals

Community Christian already kicked off the second half of the regular season last night with a 20+ point win over Millwood on the road. The Royals are now 6-0 on the season and they have been absolutely dominant in the last month. They started the season with close wins over OCS, followed by Lindsay in the first two weeks. But the Royals have absolutely rolled ever since those close games. The Royals look like the real deal, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Coming into this season, we thought that Community Christian could take that next step and be a contender. They're in a similar spot to Holdenville. They look like they have a team that can contend but they'll need to prove it when it matters most.

MIDSEASON MVP

[player_tooltip player_id='1324250' first='Dax' last='Owens'] - 2027 Quarterback - Davis

There might not be another player in 2A-2 football this season that has played in more games and specifically more meaningful games than Davis senior [player_tooltip player_id='1324250' first='Dax' last='Owens'] at the quarterback position. There are some really good football players in 2A-2 football this season but we're going with the senior signal caller who has led his team to a state championship and is in his fourth season as QB1 of the Wolves. Don't forget, this is the same quarterback that led his team to three straight wins against undefeated teams to capture the 2024 state championship. He's one of the better athletes in the state and as the competition ramps up, his game ramps up with it. He's once again playing excellent football and he's a big reason why Davis is in a position to contend again for more gold.

MIDSEASON OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

[player_tooltip player_id='1832124' first='Chris' last='Razook'] - 2027 Running Back - Community Christian

We mentioned Community Christian earlier and this offense has been absolutely lighting up the scoreboard all season. So we had to go with a player off that offense and senior running back [player_tooltip player_id='1832124' first='Chris' last='Razook'] has been borderline unstoppable so far this season. We knew coming into this season that the Royals were confident on offense with the firepower they had returning. You throw Razook into the mix, after he spent last season at Norman North, and you had the potential to see this offense absolutely explode. They have been incredibly balanced on that side of the ball but when Razook has had his number called, more times than not, he's made opponents pay. Not only has he emerged as arguably the top running back in Class 2A-2 but one of the better ones in the state.

MIDSEASON DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

[player_tooltip player_id='1837624' first='Jordan' last='Harjo'] - 2027 Linebacker - Holdenville

Holdenville has had one of the top defenses in Class 2A-2 and in the state in general through the first half of the regular season. So it felt right to pick someone off this Wolverine defense. We gave the nod to senior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1837624' first='Jordan' last='Harjo'] as he leads the team in tackles and is one of the top tacklers in the state. Harjo and the rest of the Holdenville defense has shut out three of their five opponents and while the offense has been doing their part as well to light up the scoreboard, the Wolverines know they can lead on that defense. Harjo has 55 tackles on the season and he leads a Wolverine defense that has some absolute monsters on it and they've been playing like that from the start of the season.

Community Christian AT Cashion - Week Ten

As of right now, this looks like it will decide the district championship when Cashion hosts Community Christian on the final night of the regular season. Both teams have been dominant so far in district play and there's a good chance that they are on a crash course for one another. And what an interesting match-up this will be because on paper, we'll see two teams that are currently top five teams in the class. Cashion knows what it takes to win a state championship. They aren't that far removed from winning back to back titles in 2020 and 2021. Community Christian has never been in that position before. It's a regular season game but it should have a playoff feel in week ten as these teams both look like two of the better teams in this class in 2026.
