Wrecking Havoc: Texas Edge Rushers

<p>The Lone Star State continues to produce edge rushers who know how to attack offenses and make their presence felt in the trenches. This group has shown the ability to get off the ball quickly, chase down quarterbacks, and create pressure from different alignments. With a mix of speed, bend, length, and relentless pursuit, these Texas defenders are giving offensive tackles plenty to deal with every Friday night.</p>   <p></p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Seth brings a strong pass rush skill set off the edge, showing a quick first step that allows him to attack tackles before they can get fully set. He does a good job using his hands to work around blocks and has the closing speed to stay in pursuit once he gets into the backfield. Seth also shows good awareness against the run, working to keep outside leverage and chase plays down from the backside. He gets off the ball with purpose and does a good job turning speed into pressure once he gets around the corner. Jude shows the ability to collapse the pocket and finish plays when he gets within range of the quarterback. He shows a quick burst off the line and does a good job attacking the outside shoulder of offensive tackles. Jamir uses his hands well to work through blocks and has the closing speed to finish once he gets into the backfield. He comes off the edge with good speed and does a nice job turning that burst into pressure. James can threaten the outside shoulder, work his way around the tackle, and chase plays down once he gets a step. He does a good job extending his arms to control the tackle while working toward the quarterback. Sikes also shows the ability to use his length against the run, keeping himself clean and working down the line to find the ball. He has shown the ability to get into the backfield and create pressure off the edge, using his burst to disrupt plays before they develop. Hayden also made a huge impact on special teams by blocking a punt and taking it back for a touchdown. Alexander also does a nice job staying involved when his first move does not immediately win, continuing to work until he can get to the play. He gets off the ball quickly and does a good job attacking the outside shoulder of blockers. Jacobie has shown the ability to get into the backfield, chase down plays, and keep pressure on the quarterback. He has a great burst off the line that allows him to attack the edge before blockers can get fully set. Princeton does a good job using that first step to gain ground and work his way toward the quarterback. He gets off the ball quickly and uses his speed to attack the edge before blockers can settle into their sets. Dyllon does a good job turning the corner and closing ground on the quarterback, while his production against the run shows he can get into the backfield and disrupt plays behind the line. He keeps his rush moving forward and does a nice job working toward the quarterback once he gains an advantage. Against the run, Waylan shows good awareness of where the ball is going and works to close the running lane.</p>      <p class="text-gray-700">Magnus brings a physical style to the edge and does a good job attacking blockers instead of waiting for contact. He can set the edge against the run and uses his strength to work through blocks when the play comes toward him. He reacts quickly when the play changes direction and has the closing speed to get involved from the backside. He stays active through the rush and does not allow blockers to easily lock onto him. Antonio also uses his hands well against the run, helping him shed blocks and get to the ball carrier. His hand technique gives him a solid foundation to create disruption from the edge.<br></p>      <p class="text-gray-700">Brayden has looked good playing both end and defensive tackle, showing he can make plays from different spots along the defensive front. He does a nice job using his hands to work through blocks and has the burst to attack gaps when lined up inside. From the edge, Brayden can get after the quarterback and use his quickness to create pressure. His ability to contribute both inside and outside gives him multiple ways to disrupt the offense.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Johnny brings a different look off the edge, showing patience in his rush and doing a good job waiting for his opportunity to attack. He uses his hands to work around blockers and can change direction quickly when the quarterback steps up or the ball moves outside. Johnny also does a nice job staying disciplined against the run while still finding ways to get involved near the line of scrimmage.</p>      <p class="text-gray-700">Michael shows a good ability to attack from the edge, getting off the ball with purpose and working to put pressure on the offense. He does a nice job using his hands to fight through blocks and staying on the move when blockers get a piece of him. Hinton stays active with his hands during the rush instead of relying solely on his first step, giving him different ways to get around offensive tackles.</p>      <p class="text-gray-700">Thomason shows good tools to work with off the edge, using his burst and ability to attack blockers to create opportunities in the backfield. He does a nice job getting after the quarterback and staying involved when the play moves away from him. Thomason also shows good pursuit against the run, working down the line to track the ball carrier and finish plays.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Gage does a great job chasing down ball carriers from the edge and refusing to let plays get away from him. He shows good pursuit speed when the action moves outside and does a nice job closing space from the backside. Gage stays involved even when the play moves away from his initial alignment, tracking the ball and finishing once he gets there. Early in his film, he reads the first couple of plays well and puts himself in position to make an interception. He does a nice job recognizing the action, reacting quickly, and getting into the passing lane. He does a good job coming off the edge with speed and finding ways to disrupt plays in the backfield. Cooper shows strong pursuit when chasing the ball and works to finish plays once he gets into the action.
