Oregon's Top Performers- Week 1

Every week we will highlight some of the state's top performers, teams, and overall athletes in the Northwest. Feel free to send over any relevant info as stats aren't always available. Here we summarize Oregon's best from Week 1.         *No Particular Order         [player_tooltip player_id='1121756' first='Ashden' last='Marquis'] 27' WR West Linn    The #1 ranked Lions have a lot of different players to talk about with Marquis ranking as one of the top 27's in the state. The 2nd team all-conference WR caught 5 passes for 123 yards and a TD, in the 45-20 win over #4 Central Catholic.    [player_tooltip player_id='936920' first='Jasiah' last='Agnimel'] 27' WR Lake Oswego    Agnimel has physically been dominant against DB's early in the season. He used his 6-4 frame to catch another 7 balls for 94 yards and 2 touchdowns in the 27-20 win over Casteel HS from Arizona.    [player_tooltip player_id='936846' first='Leonardo' last='Correani'] 27' LB Lincoln    The PIL POY favorite did his thing on the defensive side of the ball, finishing with 11 Tackles and 1 TFL. Correani also rushed 11 times for 62 yards and a score against a much-improved Grant team in the 28-7 win.    [player_tooltip player_id='1878396' first='Aidan' last='Galusha'] 27' RB/LB Dallas    Speaking of POY candidates, Galusha has been off the charts good for the last couple seasons and continued that trend on Friday. The dual threat athlete totaled 13 tackles with 3 TFL's on D, while accumulating 234 all-purpose yards and 3 TD's, including a kick return. The Dragons beat a decent Central squad 45-12.    [player_tooltip player_id='1609636' first='Brock' last='Estes'] 28' WR Tualatin   Estes has the potential of being the best receiver in the state. The 6-6 track star had 8 receptions for 200 yards and 3 TDs in the team's 35-14 win over Sherwood.    [player_tooltip player_id='937232' first='Kellen' last='Bowman'] 27' QB, [player_tooltip player_id='1165801' first='Benjamin' last='Greer'] 27' LB/WR, [player_tooltip player_id='1256167' first='Samuel' last='Johnson'] 27' WR South Salem   I still have no idea how the Saxons went 0-9 last season. Wait.. Never mind.. The D. South dropped 76 points in their opener but also gave up 50 to a below average Forest Grove team. The D1 baseball commit Bowman, started right where he left off, after breaking records last year. On the night he was an unreal 41/47 for 575 yards with 8 total TD's (6 passing, 2 rushing). His record-breaking receiver from last season Greer, caught 14 balls for 209 yards and 3 TD's, with the 6-4 rising prospect Johnson grabbing 9 passes for 164 yards and a touchdown.    [player_tooltip player_id='1609595' first='Iden' last='Rule'] 28' RB Tualatin   The good news for Tualatin is that when you have three of the top RBs in the entire NW, you can manage if one gets injured. My Offensive 6A POY favorite Rule had 17 touches (12 rush, 5 receptions) with 146 yards and a TD. Grubb, the #3 ranked recruit in the entire state for the 2029 class, rushed 7 times for 63 yards (82 all-purpose) in the 35-14 win over #7 Sherwood.    [player_tooltip player_id='1609659' first='Cohen' last='Bissell'] 28' RB West Linn    Bissell is good at whatever he does (football, baseball). He somewhat quietly averaged 9.1 yards per carry, rushing 25 times for 228 yards and 2 touchdowns, with West Linn cruising 45-20 over #4 Central Catholic.    [player_tooltip player_id='1760618' first='Carter' last='Nguyen'] 27' ATH Sprague    The Oly's have a bunch of dudes running around and making plays with Nguyen possibly being the best out of all of them. The standout athlete caught 4 passes for 119 yards and a TD, also making a pick on D. He was instrumental in the 47-21 win over Caldera.    [player_tooltip player_id='2163621' first='Cole' last='Iwamoto'] 28' WR Ashland    The 6-2 185 pound WR Iwamoto is only a junior and putting up some of the top stats in the region once again after a solid sophomore campaign. On Friday, he caught 11 passes for 257 yards and a TD in the 33-14 win over Del Norte, CA. He's one to keep an eye on the rest of the year.    [player_tooltip player_id='1591725' first='Mikey' last='Brandt'] 27' WR/S Sherwood    Brandt was one of the best players in the Pacific Conference last year and might be in the POY conversation this season. We talked about 6-5 junior QB [player_tooltip player_id='2105974' first='Kai' last='Boatsman'] having D1 ability, and the talented two-way athlete was the beneficiary of that, catching 9 passes for 163 yards and a touchdown. The Bowmen actually moved up the rankings to #7 after the 35-14 loss to #2 Tualatin.    [player_tooltip player_id='937340' first='Ryder' last='Lemm'] 27' QB Lake Oswego    Speaking of D1's guys, Lemm might be that dude on the football field as well. The baseball standout has absolutely killed it early on this season, passing for 203 yards and 3 TDs, while also rushing 12 times for 60 yards in the 27-20 win over Casteel (AZ).    [player_tooltip player_id='797128' first='Cameron' last='Elijah'] 27' CB/ATH & [player_tooltip player_id='937103' first='Cole' last='Callahan'] 27' RB/S Lake O Lake Oswego        As noted, the Lakers have a plethora of talent. Elijah is having a 1st team all-state season on both sides of the football early on, adding 2 INTs and 10 tackles to go with 3 receptions for 50 yards. Callahan has more than stepped up out of the backfield, working to replace last year's 6A POY Lamarcus Bell, now at Utah. He rushed 24 times for 150 yards and TD to go with 3 receptions for 30 yards.    [player_tooltip player_id='2054683' first='Toren' last='Drucker'] 27' LB/RB Mountainside    If I'm Portland St or some of the other Big Sky's I would start paying more attention to Drucker now. He plays with his hair on fire and physically he's a freak. The #8 Mavericks got a big 28-17 win over #10 Glencoe with the LB/RB scoring 3 TDs on 8 touches with 77 yards, while also adding 6 tackles and 2 PBUs.    [player_tooltip player_id='1119903' first='Bryson' last='Walker'] 27' RB, Mike Covey 28' LB/WR, Hutton Walker 29' ATH Cascade Christian   Cascade Christian made the move up to 4A after winning multiple titles at the 3A level and they still look to be in good shape. The #2 ranked Challengers didn't waste anytime beating #3 Scappoose 35-7 in their opener. POY candidate [player_tooltip player_id='1119903' first='Bryson' last='Walker'] had 4 TDs with his younger brother Hutton catching 6 passes for 105 yards. Covey, one of the state's top ranked defenders, had 7 receptions for 110.    [player_tooltip player_id='937183' first='Aris' last='Dimick'] 27' QB, [player_tooltip player_id='937115' first='Jaxon' last='Lee'] 27' DB/WR Tigard   The Tigers had a big 2nd half, pulling away from South Medford on the road in the 45-14 win. Dimick had 343 yards passing and 5 total TDs with the 6-3 rising prospect Lee catching 6 balls for 158 yards and 2 touchdowns.   [player_tooltip player_id='1242756' first='Luca' last='Blanchet'] 27' ATH, [player_tooltip player_id='937309' first='Jason' last='Kwasnik'] 27' QB Aloha   I had Aloha ranked a Top 15 5A team to start the season and they backed that up on Friday in their 34-33 win over #12 Lebanon. As mentioned on the podcast, they bring back a bunch of senior leadership with Blanchet accounting for 148 receiving yards and 2 TD's and the senior QB Kwasnik passing for 202 and both of those scores.    [player_tooltip player_id='2338937' first='Ian' last='Wells'] 29' QB Hood River    Definitely one of the fastest rising sophomores in the state. Wells was 14/21 for 277 yards and 3 TDs in an impressive 35-25 loss to #8 Canby. Hood River makes a jump on to the rankings board at #15.
