Week 1 Smackdown: Indian River Explodes in 91-6 Win Over Granby

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>An absolute beatdown took place in Norfolk, VA, in Week 1 as the Indian River Braves defeated the Granby Comets by 80+ points in their first game of the season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Braves' offense was led by Sophomore QB [player_tooltip player_id='1290145' first='Lord' last='Malik Heru'], who just so happens to be our No.1-ranked quarterback in the 2029 class. He was undoubtedly the main catalyst in IRHS' high-powered passing attack in the rout, finishing with six touchdowns on the night.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Heru continued to hammer home why he's our top-ranked sophomore quarterback all night long, making beautiful, timely passes in all three levels of the field. It's nice to see prep-level quarterbacks keeping their eyes downfield while moving around rather than immediately tucking it and running prematurely.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>What quarterbacks do when plays break down is what separates the "men from the boys" from an evaluation standpoint, and [player_tooltip player_id='1290145' first='Lord' last='Malik Heru'] is one of the best in Virginia, regardless of age. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Indian River welcomes Great Bridge High School to Chesapeake on September 11th, and Heru has a chance to put together another top-notch performance through the air.
