this past season recorded 3,004 passing yards and 9 passing touchdowns, which is very impressive, especially for a freshman. Malik Heru has all the traits you would want from your quarterback, he has an amazing arm, mobility, and great pocket awareness to know when to get out of a collapsing pocket. Malik Heru can make any type of throws from either short, intermediate, and deep with great accuracy and put the ball where only his guys can make a play on it.

is coming off a freshmen campaign that saw him throw for over 1,800 yards and obtain several FBS offers. He is playing in a region that has a historic tradition producing top flight quarterbacks and he already has shown that he is the next big time star. Heru ranked 2nd overall in this class and was very close to taking the number 1 spot overall.

Heru made a crystal clear case for the #1 spot in the rankings, throwing for 3,004 yards and 40 passing touchdowns as a freshman. He isn’t waiting, he’s up NOW. Heru’s early offer list includes Duke, ODU, and SMU. Heru is already being invited to Junior Days. Expect him to earn more offers this offseason.

is putting everyone on notice with his performance this fall. After tossing 5 touchdowns in Indian River’s quarterfinal win over Kempsville the secret is out on Heru in a good way. I believe this is his second Power 5 offer but regardless he will be highly sought out with more offers coming postseason would be my guess.

Lord played fantastic today in the loss to Oscar Smith. Lord demonstrates the desired attributes to be a successful QB at the FBS level. I am most impressed with his accuracy on the move, it is truly stunning for a Freshman QB. Lord is solidly built at 6’0 195 lbs. He could easily grow 2-3 more inches and has the frame to carry 225 lbs. However, it is his subtle QB traits that separate him. Lord can run out of the pocket, manipulating the defense, and then throw across his body with accuracy. His ability to thrive in chaos is impressive. He goes through his progressions, as he is moving out of the pocket. That is extremely rare for a Freshman, especially when playing against one of the best D-lines in the state. Lord led Indian River on a comeback in the second half, after the team went down 33-7. Lord is a dual threat, with good burst to scramble for first downs, and more. He has strong powerful legs, and can out run defenders to keep the chains moving. He is still evolving as a QB, but the instincts are clearly there. He has a cannon for an arm, throws with good touch, and has deep ball accuracy. His situational awareness is his best attribute IMO. He has the arm and legs to sustain drives and capitalize in the red zone. He is a very good decision maker within 10-20 yards, and has a cannon for an arm to take the top off a defense.

Lord shows out in his first varsity start. I wasn’t planning on writing him up again, but after going 15/15 for 219 yards and 5 TDs, I don’t have a choice. Lord carries out RPO run fakes extremely well for a Freshman. He also does a great job of keeping his head downfield and throwing on the move with accuracy. Everything he does is smooth and under control, he has very little wasted body motion. Truthfully, he is playing like a college QB already in terms of decision making and efficiency. He also has the size and arm talent to make him an elite level prospect. He has potential to be one of the best HS players 757 has ever seen. I believe he is already one of the best QBs in VA. Lord is currently ranked #2 in Prep Redzone VA 2029 rankings. He has upcoming visits at Syracuse and Norfolk St, and an upcoming photoshoot with the Lemming Report. Lord is in high demand!

Lord is one of the best rising 9th graders in the country at any position. What he does with the football at his age is absolutely phenomenal. His pocket presence is next level for a middle school QB. He shows poise and makes good decisions with the football. He can also throw on the run with accuracy when pocket collapses. Everything he does is smooth and under control, he lets the game come to him and rarely forces bad passes. He hits multiple different receivers in middle school film, showing that he sees the field well and throws to open target. Lord has an it factor, calmness, and humility. I would trust him to handle big moments late in the game. He is very sound, smooth, and efficient for a kid his age. Great AT as he throws with power and touch. Receivers are rarely adjusting to his ball. He makes the game look easy, he processes information quickly, and his team scores like they are playing backyard football.
