Tabor Academy Preview

After finishing the 2025 season undefeated as ISL Champions. Coach Jeff Moore looks to pick up where he left off. Tabor already has multiple players committed to Power 4 schools, including [player_tooltip player_id='455592' first='Brady' last='Scott'] (Indiana), [player_tooltip player_id='401841' first='Peter' last='Bourque'] (Virginia Tech), [player_tooltip player_id='1121742' first='Dominic' last='Maser'] (Boston College), and [player_tooltip player_id='943126' first='Botond' last='Varga'] (Syracuse). Additionally, [player_tooltip player_id='461527' first='Kaiden' last='Drinkwater'] was originally committed to Holy Cross before flipping his commitment to Coastal Carolina. Lastly, Catholic Memorial star linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='889357' first='Liam' last='Conlon'] makes his way to Marion as he looks to increase his offers and make an impact on the Seawolves defense.    Evaluation: An instinctive player who is known for his versatility to play safety, nickel, and box linebacker. Scott displays excellent ball skills, deflecting passes and using his strong hands to make interceptions. His superb closing speed is evident as he consistently shows the willingness to come up in run support. Scott has tight hips, which hinder his ability to change direction despite having the read-and-react ability. The main area for development is expanding his range against deep passes. Scott has a chance to maximize his style of play by taking a more leadership role to help teammates align in the secondary.   <ul class="wp-block-list"></ul>     Evaluation: A dynamic dual-threat quarterback who displays top-notch athleticism for a quarterback. As a leader, Bourque needs to firm up his command in the huddle to elevate his entire offense. Bourque's mobility in the pocket is top-notch, thanks to his impressive footwork, which lets him climb the pocket with level-headed poise and take off and run when necessary. Bourque does a superb job of keeping his eyes downfield, though he needs to make better decisions with the ball in his hands. His accomplished throwing mechanics don't go unnoticed, as he gets the ball out quickly with nice zip and a tight spiral, while maintaining pinpoint accuracy on short, intermediate, and deep passes.     Evaluation: A tall, lengthy receiver who is known for his play speed. Drinkwater has a tremendous catch radius when going after the ball. He can climb the ladder and leap up to make contested catches. Drinkwater is a crisp route runner who can run the entire route tree with ease, though he needs greater awareness of soft spots in zone coverage. In order for him to be a complete receiver, he needs to show better effort when asked to block on the outside.     Evaluation: A twitchy off-ball linebacker with a tall, compact frame who flips the switch on the field. Conlon is a vicious tackler who closes in on the ball carrier at a rapid pace. He is an instinctive blitzer from the second level but struggles to fight through blocks by relying on his quickness rather than his hands. Conlon needs to improve his gap discipline as he overpursues on his run fits at times. In pass coverage, he is extremely active in his movement thanks to his fluid hips, which enable a seamless change of direction. However, he misses his landmarks at times in his read-and-react ability.     Evaluation: A physical player who displays positional versatility to play both guard and tackle. At the snap, he explodes off the ball and moves his feet well on contact in the run game. On down blocks, he gets solid movement by turning defenders away from the ball in gap schemes. However, he needs to adjust his footwork when going up against stunts in the run game. In pass protection, he is very active with his feet in vertical and quick sets while continuing to look for work when uncovered. Against speed-to-power rushers, he needs to maintain his leverage by firming up his anchor. He needs to be more aware when exchanging twists in pass protection. The main area that Maser needs to work on is his use of hands. He needs to clean up his punch so it's more accurate on the defender's breastplate; more importantly, he needs to be active with his hands, as he is sluggish when wrapping.     Evaluation: A mauler in the run game that fires off the ball with a flat back and gets constant movement on double teams, getting hip-to-hip, base blocks, and down blocks. Additionally, he puts in relentless effort, pushing the pile to spring extra yardage. He has the athleticism to climb to the second level in zone, screens, and gap schemes. In pass protection, he needs to clean up his punch despite his solid vertical sets.
