Recruiting Roundup: Hoosier State Stars Land Big August Offers

Several prospects in Indiana are picking up their first offers, making verbal commitments, and visiting schools as the college season looms large. Here are four players who received offers or made verbal commitments over the past couple of weeks:

Miami (Fla.) and UConn have jumped on the [player_tooltip player_id='2119940' first='Javen' last='Brooks'] bandwagon since the start of August, but note we were high on him before most of the college teams who he'll no doubt land offers from, were at the start. Brooks, who we saw at spring practice, displays a great combination of size and speed, great adjustment to the ball, wins one-on-one battles and has soft hands.

[player_tooltip player_id='826779' first='Oscar' last='Sloan'] makes good decisions with the ball. With his height, size and quick release, the 6-foot-4, 195-pound quarterback flashes a good arm with ability to hit receivers in stride on deep passes and flourishing in Center Grove's offense. Colorado State offered last week, and we expect more teams to jump aboard for his services as the season rolls on. Center Grove is off to a 1-1 start, winning 42-17 against Carroll and bouncing back in a big way after a six-point loss to Warren Central in Week 1

[player_tooltip player_id='1694729' first='Trew' last='Paxson'] gave Southeast Missouri his verbal commitment. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound linebacker for Center Grove really pops on tape as a strong inside linebacker with great pursuit skills, taking good angles to the quarterback and wrapping up. I love Paxson's size and speed, instincts, high motor and range. Southeast Missouri is getting a steal in Paxson, one of the top defenders in central Indiana.

[player_tooltip player_id='2120894' first='Javontae' last='Eldridge'] is still developing, but the 6-foot-5, 235-pound edge projects to be one of the best prospects in the Class of 2028. He has the tools, with explosiveness, twitch, ability to shed blocks, and playing with active feet and hands. Eldridge is a very good player with a high ceiling, earning recent offers from Illinois and Nebraska and Cincinnati. Expect more to come with a dominant junior year.
