Lowell and East Grand Rapids squared off Thursday night in a battle of top end talent. Neither side of the field disappointed in a game that turned out to be an absolute classic week 1 game. In the end East made 1 more play and took a close 27-21 win. Let's take a look at some prospects that showed out Thursday night. Some of these guys were well know but a few have really put themselves on the recruiting map.

Tripp is not an under the radar prospect by any means as many college programs are well aware of him. Tripp was an absolute warrior down the stretch of the game and came up with a 20 yard touchdown run with under 40 seconds to secure the win for the pioneers. I was impressed with Tripps poise and also impressed by Tripps touch on down the field throws. Tripp threw multiple balls perfectly on target deep down field and also made huge plays with his legs that resulted in multiple crucial first downs. Tripp was extremely impressive and showed all the toughness it takes to play at the next level.

Tommy was a kid I was looking forward to seeing Thursday night and I came away extremely impressed. At 6'5" and 340 pounds I was stunned at well Tommy moved and with the motor Tommy plays with. Tommy was in 1 word dominate. Tommy played with good leverage and showed excellent power in the run game. I was equally impressed with Tommy's pass protection game also. On one particular play Tommy blew a defensive lineman off the ball and buried him flat on his back 10 yards down the field. Tommy was also a vocal leader on the sideline and kept great energy with his teammates engaged all night. I have no doubt Tommy can be a big time contributor at the next level. He is a little raw but show to be very coachable and a player you need in your locker room.

I am not sure any player had there name called more on Thursday night than Dawson. Dawson was an absolute ball hawk and was in an a ton of tackles for the red arrows defense from his linebacker spot. Dawson is not the biggest linebacker but you can't question his toughness at all. Dawson took on lead blocker 50 plus pounds heavier than him and shed those blocks and made plays all night. I was impressed with the natural instincts he showed to diagnose a play react quickly and get to his spot to make a play. Dawson was a big stock riser on Thursday and could lead the west side of the state in tackles if he stays healthy.

Gibson was a player that flashed on both sides of the ball Thursday night but his biggest impact was felt from his wide reciever spot. Gibson has 2 touchdowns against Lowell, one on a crucial fourth down at the 3 yard line and another on a long run on an end around. He showed excellent vision and speed and became the go to guy for the pioneers when they needed a play. I was very impressed with Gibson and see a big year from him and could also see his recruitment pick up.

Crue showed up an a mission and lets just say his play did all the talking. Crue was excellent for the Lowell red arrows offense and made multiple huge chunk plays for them. Crue also had a long touchdown taken of the board late in the fourth quarter due to an illegal formation. Even though it didn't count Crue when right over a defender plucking it off his head and sprinting into the end zone. I was very impressed by Crue and am looking forwards to see what he has in store the rest of the season.

Grant was a player I was excited to see as a scout and a fan and he did not disappoint. Grant showed excellent feet and was very mobile for a 280 plus pound lineman. Grant was very explosive from his left guard spot, creating holes for his backs to get through. I was also impressed with grants ability to be effective on the defensive line. Grant showed amazing conditioning playing also every snap both ways for the pioneers. Grant is a football player in every sense of the word and it's no surprise the big ten came calling. Keep an eye on grant this fall , he won't be hard to find.
