KY ‘27 Position Rankings Breakdowns: ATH

As we enter the month of August, the start of the 2026 high school football season is quickly approaching. With that in mind, we have begun a new round of rankings updates. The latest class to be updated in Kentucky is the incoming senior class of 2027. With our newest Top 250 being released for the class, I have been taking some time to break them down by position. After already covering the offensive and defensive sides of the ball, I will wrap up my position rankings breakdowns with our top ATH in the class of 2027 in the state of Kentucky who make an impact at multiple positions.    [player_tooltip player_id='378839' first='Garyon' last='Hobbs'] has consistently been one of the best players in the state in his class from his freshman year til now. Hobbs is a versatile defensive playmaker who is at his best in a hybrid strong safety/linebacker role. He is very reliable against the run, showing the ability to diagnose the play quickly then use his speed to get to the ball carrier before opposing offensive linemen have a chance to block him. Once he gets to the ball carrier, he is a very reliable tackler, finishing his junior year with 71 tackles and 11 tackles for loss in 13 games. Garyon is also dependable against the pass, whether it is in coverage or as a pass rusher, recording a team-high five interceptions (two returned for touchdowns) along with three sacks as a junior. He also made an impact on offense and special teams last season, catching 35 passes for 583 yards and seven touchdowns, while also running the ball 25 times for 218 yards and three touchdowns, and returning one punt and a kickoff for touchdowns. Hobbs is committed to Indiana and will be looking to finish his high school career on a high note as he is transferring back to CAL after spending his junior season at Atherton.     [player_tooltip player_id='1665343' first='Larron' last='Westmoreland'] is a player who has made a name for himself over the past couple seasons and will continue to have a ton of eyes on him this season after transferring from Jeffersontown to Corbin for his senior year. Westmoreland is a game-changer in the secondary at safety. He does a great job of reading both routes and the quarterback then flowing through the secondary accordingly to put himself in position to make a play. When the ball is thrown in his direction, he has shown tremendous ball skills, finishing last season with a team-high three interceptions in 10 games, returning one of them for a touchdown. He has also shown the ability to fill the lane to provide run support, recording 67 tackles and three tackles for loss as a junior. Westmoreland is also a key playmaker on offense, catching 33 passes for 459 yards and six touchdowns as a junior while also running the ball 39 times for 287 yards and nine touchdowns, and throwing two touchdown passes. Larron is committed to Kentucky where I can see him developing into a key contributor in their secondary.     [player_tooltip player_id='1160198' first='Chance' last='McPike'] is one of the most explosive offensive playmakers in the state. He has shown the ability to make plays both out of the slot in the passing game and out of the backfield. McPike uses his burst of speed to his advantage to create separation as a receiver and to get out into the open field to run away from the defense as a ball carrier. When defenders are able to catch up to him, he has shown the elusiveness to make them miss. Chance finished last season with 33 receptions for 540 yards and five touchdowns along with four carries for 153 yards and two touchdowns in 14 games. He also returned a kickoff for a touchdown as a junior. McPike is committed to Austin Peay State where I can see him making an early impact when he gets there.     [player_tooltip player_id='1200641' first='Timmy' last='Emongo'] is a player who has continued to stand out to me over the past few seasons, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Emongo is a skilled ball carrier out of the backfield and is coming off a strong junior season in which he carried the ball 110 times for 1,052 yards and 18 touchdowns in 13 games. He is very shifty in the open field as he has shown the ability to make cuts on the dime to make defenders miss with ease. Timmy also has the explosive burst of speed to break away for long runs at any given moment once he hits the second level. Emongo is also a dangerous deep threat in the passing game, leading his team in receiving last season with 21 catches for 660 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also played a role on defense as a junior, recording 20 tackles and three interceptions, and recovering two fumbles, returning one of them for a touchdown. Timmy is committed to Ball State where I can see him being a very productive player at the next level.     To wrap up our top five ATH in the class of 2027 in the state of Kentucky, I have [player_tooltip player_id='1375197' first='JuJu' last='Harmon Jr']. JuJu has a ton of versatility on the defensive side of the ball as he has shown the ability to play safety and in a hybrid nickel/outside linebacker role. He is very effective against the run as he has shown the ability to read the play quickly then come downhill with a sense of urgency to make the tackle before the ball carrier can get going. Harmon finished last season with 67 tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss in 13 games. He has also shown great instincts and ball skills in pass coverage, coming away with three interceptions as a junior, returning one of them for a touchdown. Harmon also made an impact on offense last season, catching seven passes for 126 yards and two touchdowns. JuJu currently holds multiple Power 4/Division I offers and I expect a lot of eyes to continue to be on him after transferring from Scott County to Eminence for his senior year.
