Tyler Consolidated finished 4-6 in 2025 and narrowly missed the playoffs in its first season competing in Class AA. The Knights are working to elevate the program and compete against larger schools in the classification, and last season was a step in the right direction. Head coach Kyle Ritz enters his fourth season with the program and has done well at building the Knights' program. With a strong group returning in 2026, Tyler Consolidated will be in playoff contention.

2026 OUTLOOK

Tyler Consolidated has a strong mix of experienced veterans and talented young players heading into 2026, giving the Knights a roster capable of taking another step in Class AA. The returning experience should help them navigate a schedule that includes several difficult matchups, while the younger talent gives the program plenty to build around moving forward. Those tougher games will be valuable measuring sticks and provide a good indication of how far the Knights have come against some of the better teams on their schedule. If the pieces come together, Tyler Consolidated should have a chance to compete for a playoff spot while continuing to build the program.

2027 Tyler Consolidated RB/DB Gideon Winfrey brings a strong combination of production and pedigree into his senior season. Winfrey earned Honorable Mention All-State honors as a junior while rushing for nearly 700 yards and 9 touchdowns and adding more than 300 receiving yards with 4 more scores. His versatility allows the Knights to use him in several ways offensively, while his wrestling background shows up in the balance, strength, and physicality he brings to the football field. Winfrey has already established himself as a quality two-way player, and another strong season could put him among the more productive seniors in Class AA.

The athletic ability of 2028 Tyler Consolidated TE Cam Strode gives the Knights an intriguing piece to work with as he heads into his junior season. Strode's basketball background and multi-sport experience show up in his athleticism and give him natural ability as a football player that will aid his development. He still needs to add size to maximize his upside at tight end, but the frame and athletic traits are there to continue developing. After showing flashes in his sophomore season, Strode should see more opportunities in the offense and could make a noticeable jump in production as a junior.

Tyler Consolidated has another young receiver to watch in 2028 WR Kolbin Highley, who showed plenty of promise during his sophomore season. Highley finished with 300 total yards and four touchdowns while showing dependable hands and the ability to track the football well down the field. He does a nice job catching the ball away from his body and staying focused through contact, while his ability to line up inside or outside gives the Knights some flexibility in how they use him. With more physical development and experience, Highley should see his production continue to grow over the next two seasons.

The Winfrey name will continue to be a familiar one around Tyler Consolidated with 2028 FB/LB Israel Winfrey taking on a bigger role as a junior. Winfrey brings a physical 5'11 190 frame to the backfield, where he'll work alongside older brother Gideon as a lead blocker while also getting opportunities to carry the football himself. That same physicality makes him a natural fit at linebacker, where his athleticism and toughness should allow him to become a standout defender for the Knights. Now a junior, Winfrey has the opportunity to emerge as the next major contributor from a family that has produced plenty of athletes at Tyler
The Knights already have a young player with plenty of upside in 2029 OL Grady Shortridge. Shortridge started on varsity as a freshman and showed enough to give Tyler Consolidated another quality piece to develop up front. His 6'4 frame gives him plenty of room to add size and strength over the next three years, and the early experience should only help him continue progressing. There is a high ceiling here, and as Shortridge adds to his body of work, expect him to become a more recognizable name in the 2029 class..

2029 Tyler Consolidated QB Ashton Morris showed plenty of promise during his freshman season and could develop into one of the more notable young quarterbacks in the state. Morris threw for just under 1,000 yards despite splitting time at the position with a senior, giving him valuable varsity experience early on. His early film shows encouraging traits as a passer and plenty of room to grow as he takes on a larger role moving forward. With three more seasons ahead of him and the opportunity to take full control of the offense, Morris has a chance to develop into a major player for the Knights in time.
