The Winfrey name will continue to be a familiar one around Tyler Consolidated with 2028 FB/LB Israel Winfrey taking on a bigger role as a junior. Winfrey brings a physical 5’11 190 frame to the backfield, where he’ll work alongside older brother Gideon as a lead blocker while also getting opportunities to carry the football himself. That same physicality makes him a natural fit at linebacker, where his athleticism and toughness should allow him to become a standout defender for the Knights. Now a junior, Winfrey has the opportunity to emerge as the next major contributor from a family that has produced plenty of athletes at Tyler
The Knights already have a young player with plenty of upside in 2029 OL Grady Shortridge. Shortridge started on varsity as a freshman and showed enough to give Tyler Consolidated another quality piece to develop up front. His 6’4 frame gives him plenty of room to add size and strength over the next three years, and the early experience should only help him continue progressing. There is a high ceiling here, and as Shortridge adds to his body of work, expect him to become a more recognizable name in the 2029 class..
