Six 2027 Shreveport, Northwest LA prospects to watch this season

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Louisiana high schools are fast approaching fall football camp and, in just over a month, the 2026 season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A strong wave of talent coming through the state means plenty of notable players to watch — as usual for the typically rich recruiting ground — including many for the final go-round in their respective high school seasons.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Heading into August, Prep Redzone Louisiana will take a look around the state region-by-region at some of the most promising student-athletes to take a Friday night to see while they're close before heading off to college opportunities around the country.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here are half a dozen seniors from Shreveport and the surrounding northwest Louisiana region.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='261907' first='Peyton' last='Houston']<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/peyton-houston/"></a> — 6-0, 195 QB — Evangel Christian</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The LSU-committed quarterback has been electric and prolific in his two seasons at the helm of the Eagles' offense and figures to continue to fit that bill in his final high school season, which he enters with the momentum of a strong offseason of continued development and performances in premier camp settings. Houston has been as polished a processor and passer as any in the state throughout his career and a dynamic threat with his legs as well and is now another year older, visibly bigger and stronger and with another good cast of weapons around him.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='465282' first='Malachi' last='Zeigler']<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/malachi-zeigler/"></a> — 6-3, 200 QB — Benton </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Two of the state's three Power-Four quarterback commits are in the Shreveport area. And while the past couple of years have been uphill battles, Zeigler remains one of the most promising prospects at the position to come through the state in recent years, has been steadfast in his enthusiasm to play his entire career for his local school and with his teammates and now heads into his second season under the Tigers' current coaching staff. So there are plenty of reasons to celebrate and to be intrigued, though the district slate figures to be tough again — but also high-flying. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2227399' first='Gary' last='Burney Jr.'] — 6-4, 200 WR — Parkway</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Panthers' prototypical pass-catcher was among the state's breakout stars last season with nearly 1,300 yards as a junior, and now heads into his final high school season as a highly ranked prospect and an LSU commit — but somehow still feeling as though he may be underrated. As mentioned above, District 1-5A is as high-scoring as any league in, and Burney would figure to have another highlight-loaded season on deck to cap his prep career.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='934564' first='Braylun' last='Huglon']<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/braylun-huglon/"></a> — 5-10, 175 WR/ATH — Calvary Baptist</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Few players in the state have been as impactful as long as the Cavaliers' explosive wide receiver and lockdown corner who committed this summer to Colorado State. Huglon has put together a decorated résumé with honors on both sides of the ball, including developing into one of the state's most productive pass-catchers, an explosive athlete and a route-running technician who consistently creates separation and effectively attacks every level of the field.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1782943' first='Kyron' last='Turner']<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/kyron-turner/"></a> — 6-4, 185 DB — Haughton</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>With Huglon's shift the past couple years more so to wide receiver, Turner is the highest-ranked defensive prospect in the area for the 2027 class. The long, rangy and speedy safety has earned a slew of offers during the course of this offseason, including Louisiana Tech, Louisiana (Lafayette) and Cincinnati and is among the state's top-ranked remaining uncommitted prospects with just a few weeks left before the group's senior season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1651155' first='Bryce' last='Restovich']<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/bryce-restovich/"></a> — 6-2, 180 QB — Loyola Prep</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Flyers enjoyed a historic 2025 season and return several key pieces, including the now-senior quarterback at the helm and a few of his top weapons. Restovich is a potential Division-I talent who completed more than 70% of his passes last season for more than 3,400 yards, and he has Loyola Prep as a whole should be both confident and hungry in 2026 after being short-handed for their playoff loss last November.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
