Alexandria prospects to watch | Preseason 3-2-1 Spotlight

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Alexandria is enjoying a historic run of success in terms of regular-season and district wins, playoff runs and recruiting classes. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>And the rising senior group has a case among the best in program history with several players already playing notable early roles on the 2024 state runner-up run before developing into more prominent leaders as juniors and now college prospects. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Louisiana's high school football season is just over a month away, and Prep Redzone Louisiana will spotlight some of the top programs and prospects as in years past with its 3-2-1 format of three well-known returning stars or leaders, two notable candidates for breakout performance or big steps forward in some fashion and one underclassman to know sooner than later.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>3 WELL-KNOWN RETURNERS</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1801050' first='Jaden' last='Bayonne'] — 6-6, 275 DL — Alexandria (2027)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The big, versatile defensive lineman has raised his recruiting stock significantly over the past year-plus to earn a top-15 spot in the state's class and a Mississippi State commitment he announced early this month over a slew of other Power-Four options. Bayonne has elite size, explodes off the ball and shows good overall athleticism, balance as a run-stuffer or disruptive pass-rusher and ability to shift positions all over the front. He is the top-ranked prospect in the class in the defensive line category and one of the top couple of trench prospects overall with an offensive lineman and edge rusher elsewhere in the state. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1250281' first='Karsen' last='Sellers'] — 6-2, 185 QB — Alexandria (2027)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1250291' first='Alex' last='Fontenot'] — 6-2, 190 WR — Alexandria (2027)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Sellers and Fontenot have been working together for years, hitting the PRZLA radar together on the 7-on-7 circuit before even hitting the varsity roster, and are now preparing for their final high school season as one of the best quarterback-receiver tandems in the state. They connected for more than 1,000 yards as juniors and torched their way up and down fields during their limited spring practice period and in several interscholastic 7-on-7 matchups this summer. Both Griffin and Williams are on the smaller side at the position, but still have viable size for the next level and exceptional football IQ, instincts and ball skills and are hyper-competitive and more than willing to play physically. Griffin is a recent Old Dominion commit, and Williams has picked up a handful of recent offers from McMurry, Louisiana Christian, Arizona Christian, Linfield and Benfield</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>2 BREAKOUT CANDIDATES</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1263234' first='Kason' last='Williams'] — 6-1, 180 RB/ATH — Alexandria (2028)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1375178' first='Noble' last='Williams'] — 5-11, 175 RB — Alexandria (2028)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 2028 running back duo, two of Louisiana's top prospects at the position right now in any class, enjoyed productive, breakout sophomore campaigns this past fall with more than 1,600 all-purpose yards and 18 touchdowns for Kason and 662 yards and six touchdowns rushing for Noble despite each missing some time. Those numbers may just be scratching the surface, though — particularly for Noble because of the stretch he was sidelined by injury — and this fall should present an opportunity for Williams and Williams to go from exciting underclassmen well-known in CenLA and beginning to be recognized by some around the state to increasingly household names on a major scale.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2234646' first='Reginald' last='Monroe'] — 5-7, 165 WR/ATH — Alexandria (2027)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>and <strong>Kelton Ray Jr. — 5-8, 160 WR — Alexandria (2027)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As productive as the passing game was this past fall in Sellers' second season at the helm, the Trojans could benefit greatly from another receiver or two emerging to complement Fontenot. In 2025, Griffin had to take on more snaps on offense to do so, and he and [player_tooltip player_id='1263234' first='Kason' last='Williams'] boasted the team's second- and third-highest receiving totals. But Monroe, nicknamed "Donut," transferred from Hammond, and "K.J." returns from an injury that cost his junior season. And both smaller, quicker receivers have had offseason that are encouraging for the layer they could potentially add to the attack this fall. Crutchfield got on the field some as a freshman and showed some flashes and has the chance to be a game-changing piece up front alongside Bayonne. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
