SBU Prospect Camp Defensive Standouts

Paul Hansen and his coaching staff put on a a fantastic camp, and I would like to thank him for allowing me to scout the SBU prospect camp. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The defensive athlete's at this camp had a tall task trying to handle these gifted offensive prospects in attendance. He moved pretty good for his size, and covered a so much ground for a linebacker. Then in the earlier portion of camp he lined up and ran a blistering 4.50 - 4.60 forty yard dash that got everyone talking right away. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>He followed that up by doing exceptionally well in the competition portion, covering those very talented running backs out of the backfield. Standing at 6'3, 230 pounds Van Batavia moved effortlessly for a man his size. Especially when certain drills called for a quick change of direction, the young man can stop on a dime and explode to his destination. In lineman 1-on-1's he probably had the best motor out of anyone in attendance. I would like to start off by saying Rutledge plays safety, and usually at prospect camps you have to hold your own by playing man on man coverage on really good wide receivers. Big, fast, and mean, Roher arrived at camp last weekend determined to turn some heads and he did just that earning a SBU college offer. What separated Roher from other linebacker prospects is the way he can cover so much ground in coverage. He closes on the ball so quick even when it looked like he might have lost a rep he had enough speed to close the gap and make a play on the football. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It was with no surprise that Roher left Bolivar, Missouri with a college offer. At the SBU camp he had a pretty good plan of just simply bullying every opposing offensive lineman in competition drills, and from every rep I saw of him the plan worked out just fine.
