Five Tailbacks in Division I Audition Mode

In this edition of 2027 Missouri rankings reboot film review, we take a look at tailbacks with Division I grades and/or potential and little to no Division I options at this point heading into their senior seasons. Three of these prospects will be debutants in the new rankings drop. All five of these particular spotlighted players today should be on watch lists for programs across multiple divisions and subdivisions over the next few months. All State in track and field, holds a 100m PR 11.37, postseason qualifier running anchor for the 4x1 relay team, state qualifier and placed 6th in the long jump. Academic All State player with a 3.4 GPA. 1225 total yards, 15 TD in 2025 breakout year. Long athlete with good build and growth potential. Observed live at Lindenwood in June, put up one of the top testing performances out of his position group - 6000 194, 4.51x40, 33.3vj, 10'4bj. Multi-use athlete in the run and pass game, also contributes in the return game. Catches the ball with his hands, carries the ball north-south, foot in the ground guy, evades tacklers using open field vision. Developmental FCS prospect with potential. Has FCS and lower level offers.     Scatback type that put up 1000 total yards and 16 TD in 2025 playing out of the backfield and returning kicks, recognized First Team All Conference. Dangerous with his quickness and twitch, and has the speed to outrun comp in his league. Deliberate and decisive at the line, reads the defense, finds the holes and running lanes, puts a foot in the ground and slashes through. Has electricity in the open field, slippery and jittery in space, bounces off tacklers. Has the creative gene to be able to make something out of nothing with the ball in hand. Two way player that brings physicality and juice to the defensive side of the ball. Under the radar prospect still looking for that first offer to come through.     Multi-sport athlete that holds a 11.49 100m PR and runs the anchor leg in the 4x1 and 4x2. May lack size but certainly not high end athletic ability. Versatile athlete that brings electricity to the football field. Explosive runner with top end acceleration. Foot in the ground slasher at the line and creator in the open field. Elusive, extremely tough to tackle. At times resembles a video game cheat code. Can turn a short gain into an explosion play. Dangerous on the perimeter with his ability to blow past angles and see the cutbacks. Two way player that produces at corner as well. Athletic traits open the door for Division I potential. Still awaiting his first offer.     Received All State, All District and All Conference recognition out of the 2025 season, as well as Conference Honorable Mention for his work at DB. Finished his junior year with 1404 yards, over 8 yards per carry, and 19 TD. Carries good speed through the hole, sees his spot and hits the accelerator. Breaks through weak tackles. Has the speed to turn the corner at his level. Can put a foot in the ground and change direction at full speed. Uses good vision downfield, keeps the feet churning on contact, strong player that can carry tacklers with him. Can take the ball between the tackles or play to the outside, has toughness to him. Shows capability as a receiver out of the backfield. Resilient with the ball, tough to bring down for his size. Division I graded back still awaiting that first offer.     Hyde measured in at 6000 239 and tested 5x1x40 22.6vj and 8'5bj at Lindenwood in June. In 2025 he finished with 81 CAR, 600 YDS, 6 TD, 7.4 YPC and earned All State, All Conference and All District honors. Will play his senior year at Southern Boone after a recent transfer from Rock Bridge. Has an obvious large size and build to him for the tailback position. Good with his feet behind the line, precise in his decision making and vision anticipating and attacking the running lanes. Has a power back style to him, very north-south as a runner and strong on contact. Tough and physical, will bowl over defenders en route to scoring or moving the sticks, will get the tough yards.
