BLAINE-- On Monday night, we took the short trip over to the Blaine High School practice fields for the RouteRunnersLab Mini Camp which featured a plethora of athletes from Blaine and Coon Rapids that we were able to get live evals on. Shoutout to Route RunnersLab owner Kamden Leitheiser for not only inviting us out, but giving back to these young men from the NW metro, to grow their skills and recruiting stock This group was a talented group, with WRs, QBs and RBs with D1, D2, and D3 offers to 7th graders just starting to hit their strides in their first evals in the scouting world. Time to rock and roll!

Quarterback

Jameson was the lone quarterback prospect in attendance so to say the least he got every rep he could get at the RouteRunnersLab Mini Camp on Monday night in Blaine. What intrigued me the reps I was able to watch from Jameson, was his ability to progress throughout the evening, as he exceled with quick growth as far as his ball placement and precision as you could tell the chemistry he could quickly build up especially with his fellow Blaine Bengals wide receivers in knowing their route trees on intermediate and deep routes. Holds one offer thus far from Minnesota-Duluth and I would bet there's more attention coming his way here soon from others in the NSIC.

Wide Receivers

A young buck that was a brand new name on our radar in the 2031 class that caught our attention on Monday night was [player_tooltip player_id='2240107' first='Nate' last='Weathers']. Nate was getting reps with other wide receivers that were three to four years older than him, but you could see quickly that he could nearly blend in with the rest of the group which was the first sign I looked at. He showed off a solid get off off the top of his routes throughout the session and the top skillset that Nate showed me was with his hands and how he finished with his hands near the goal line. Quite impressed with his football IQ for his age, yet he has plenty of room and time to still grow as just a 7th grader out of Blaine.

One of the first 2027 athletes out of Blaine to catch my eye on Monday is Derrick "RJ" Obwaya. The reps I was able to watch out of him in the live eval showed off rangy footwork that I feel go deeper than what you see in his 6'0 190 pound frame. He also shows off the fluidity you want to see as a route-runner from start to finish as that was persistent out of RJ even with the 90+ degree heat wave that hit us on Monday with all his reps I watched. He's a sound athlete as well with his high-top ability and got smoother thoughout the day with several reps with his hands and ball-tracking ability. The athletic traits are surely there for this young man, with a 4.56 40-yard dash and 9'6 broad jump at the Minnesconsin MEGA Camp just recently. He's an RB I hope to see in our top-tier amongst 6A running backs by the end of fall season.

One that I am surprised wasn't in our PRZ Minnesota database as of yet that stood out at the RouteRunnersLab Mini Camp was Blaine 2027 wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='2240116' first='Elijah' last='Johnston']. Elijah was one that I felt was quite locked in to the small details it takes to play the WR position and the framework he put in with those details I felt elevated his route-running ability that I saw on the Blaine practice fields on Monday night. Elijah competes with the accelerator too you want in your receiving core but yet carries the balance as a route-runner that was always in control in the reps got to watch in the heat. He showed off a couple reps where he had to adjust to the flight of the ball and showed that he could improvise on routes to the ball with his hands. He's one that surprises me doesn't have his first offer based on what I got out of his live eval on Monday.

TWITTER

Cyril had some of the crispest hands I got to watch out of this 2027 group I watched on Monday night at Blaine as one that was quite persistent in the hands department regardless of where the ball was thrown, he found a way to reel in with his hands on the ton of reps I got to watch. He also showed off more length than I was expecting off the intial eye test as Cyril has a long upper body to reach for those balls that might be slightly out of reach for other receivers with his size profile. He also was quite fluid in every rep he took in that I watched on all three levels. He's another NW metro wide receiver that I feel is significantly under the radar with one offer from Bemidji State, but has a pretty stacked July camp schedule that should give him more exposure on his recrutiing trail upcoming.

Jadyn was the lone 2028 wide receiver in attendance, but man did this young man continue to impress me with his reps on Monday night in Blaine. Jadyn is relentless competitor that loves to compete on all three levels as a route-runner and surely was one of the smoothest route-runners we saw in the WR group on Monday on the Blaine practice fields. He was proficently tight around the cone drills we watched and I don't believe I saw Jadyn miss a reception all evening as his twitch and go-getter mentality on his routes show excellent range for his size. He had an excellent showing at our Prep Redzone Minnesota Showcase this spring, and walked out of Oxford, OH at the Miami (OH) Prospect Camp with his first D1 offer. He's also heard from primier FBS and FCS schools since the floodgates have opened up for the 2028 class, as he's one that surely will continue to get more attention on the recruiting trail
