New Jersey's defensive talent was on full display Saturday at the Rize, with linebackers, defensive backs, and edge defenders making their presence felt throughout the event. From lockdown coverage to downhill run stopping and explosive pass rushing ability, the Garden State produced no shortage of impact defenders. While plenty of players had strong performances, these are the defensive prospects who consistently separated themselves and earned recognition as the top defenders in attendance.

Haiden left little doubt about who the top defensive back was at the Rize, as every scout in attendance was in agreement that he earned DB MVP honors. It's become a familiar story whenever he's at a Prep Redzone event; every time I've seen Haiden compete, he's walked away looking like one of the best players on the field. His elite footwork, ability to stay low through transitions, and anticipation in coverage consistently put him in position to make plays. Whether matching up with bigger receivers or turning and running with the fastest athletes in attendance, Haiden looked completely in control. In my eyes, he's firmly established himself as one of the top 10 prospects in New Jersey's 2030 class.

Speed like this is rarely seen from a defensive lineman, which is exactly what made [player_tooltip player_id='1590287' first='Jasiah' last='Dennis']' performance so impressive. He posted the ninth-fastest 40-yard dash time at the entire camp, and that explosiveness carried over into every positional drill. He showed the ability to bend coming off of the edge, explode off the line with a low first step, while using his length to keep offensive linemen from getting into his frame. When you pair those traits with the fact that he's only a 2031 prospect, it's easy to see why he has the potential to develop into a truly special talent.

[player_tooltip player_id='1590698' first='Edward' last='Mitchell III'] was one of the most impressive defensive linemen in attendance, consistently finding ways to win against offensive linemen throughout the day. Whether it was with polished hand usage, finesse moves, or converting speed to power with an effective bull rush, Edward showed a well-rounded pass rushing arsenal. His size alone makes an immediate statement, but it's the way he pairs that frame with refined technique that separates him. With those tools already in place, I expect Mitchell to accomplish big things at St. Joseph.

Ryder was one of the linebackers I highlighted in an earlier article, and it's safe to say he left a lasting impression. He stood out immediately during testing, posting a sub-5.0 40-yard dash while consistently showcasing the athleticism that translates to the field. His quick, choppy footwork and ability to process what was happening around him allowed him to react in an instant, whether working downhill or in space. With the speed to run with skill players and the instincts to diagnose plays quickly, Ryder continues to establish himself as one of New Jersey's rising linebackers.

King Moore is developed far beyond his years, already carrying the size and physical profile of an upperclassman. His versatility stands out immediately, with safety or rover projecting as his best long-term fit. In coverage, King has the range to cover a lot of ground and stay effective in space, while also bringing the size and physicality to step down and support the run. That combination makes him a true hybrid defender who can impact the game in multiple ways. He looks like another piece that will help continue the strong tradition of success at Glassboro.

If you read my Top Linebackers article earlier this week, Greyson's name should come as no surprise. Greyson proved why he was one of the linebackers I was highest on. His athleticism was evident from the opening drills and carried over into live competition, where he showcased the range to run sideline to sideline and comfortably match running backs in coverage. Greyson punctuated his day by high-pointing an interception, once again displaying the ball skills and versatility that make him one of the more complete linebackers at the Rize.
