Oregon 2027 rankings: Discussing 21-30

Jordan Johnson and I recently released our updated rankings for the class of 2027 -with major movement in the 11-50 range.   Some prospects slipped, but many more simply had breakout performances that allowed them to climb ahead of their peers.   Many of the players in the 21-30 range either already have Division I offers, or are going to make a serious push for them this fall with updated film.   Here's a look at players 21-30, starting with a football/track star who recently transferred to a top-tier program and could emerge as a star.   LB [player_tooltip player_id='1359070' first='Drew' last='Miller'], Nelson — The 6-foot-3, 200-pound three-sport athlete missed time last year with a knee injury, but was stellar when he was on the field for Barlow.    Miller racked up 57 tackles, five sacks, five tackles-for-loss and 11 quarterback hurries.    Equally impressive, Miller placed fourth in the 300-hurdles and record a 110-hurdle time of 15.03.   Miller should help bolster a Nelson defense that will be among the best in the state.   Despite back-to-back all-league seasons, he remains a potential late breakout candidate.   He has the genes and the athleticism to truly pop at a top-tier program this fall.    ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1125042' first='Barry' last='Myles'], Sheldon —If you pay any attention to high school football in Eugene you know it's been a tumultuous time for the programs involved.   The transfer and politics between Willamette and Sheldon have been boiling the past few years -with many of Sheldon's top players departing for the new 6A rival.   Myles elected to stay, and has flourished.   The 6-foot-3, 180-pound defensive back has excellent length and the versatile to line up at a few different spots in the defensive backfield at the next level.   Myles is committed to Eastern Washington, which is an excellent fit for his talent and skillset.   ATH [player_tooltip player_id='937036' first='Lincoln' last='Teeney'], Silverton —Silverton won a state title last season behind a collection of juniors with a lot of speed and athletic ability.   Arguably the best of the bunch was the 5-foot-11, 185-pound Teeney..   The conference player of the year perfectly epitomized what Silverton was about - talented athletes making plays and wreaking havoc all over the field.   Teeney is one of the most underrated leaders in the entire state, and Idaho got itself a steal in securing his early commitment.   The WR/DB will be a 5A state player of the year favorite.    OL [player_tooltip player_id='1359160' first='Dylan' last='Marquez'], Lake Oswego —Last season, Lake Oswego was absolutely loaded all over the field, but at the beginning of the year there were some questions about the offensive line.   Marquez helped anchor that group and paved the way for LaMarcus Bell to run freely seemingly every Friday night.    The 6-foot-4, 280-pound lineman holds an offer from San Diego, marking him as a Division I offensive line prospect.   That's a well-deserved label, and it will be interesting to see if he generates even more attention after a strong offseason of growth.    QB [player_tooltip player_id='796694' first='Jordan' last='Rossetta'], Grants Pass — Rossetta's recruitment hasn't yet matched his numbers, although he has a collection of small school offers.   The 6-foot-5, 215-pound signal-caller has thrown for more than 5,000 yards and nearly 60 touchdowns.   He was an honorable mention all-state selection last season, and could make a big leap this fall.   Seeing Rossetta in a big camp setting maybe would've helped his stock, but he could still experience a late surge his recruitment if he reaches another level as a senior.   OL [player_tooltip player_id='936855' first='Nate' last='Peau'], Central Catholic —The broad-shouldered 6-foot-2, 315-pound two-way lineman is one of my personal favorites.   He anchored both the OL and DL for state title game squad Central Catholic and was their heartbeat up front.   Peau was a first-team all-conference, second-team all-state selection and has the potential to be a two-way all-state performer this fall.   Peau's recruitment hasn't taken off, but I'm getting the growing sense that several small school programs are watching him closely and that he could stack a few late offers.   In an era that has increasingly emphasized height for interior O-linemen, Peau has slid through the cracks somewhat.   He's going to be a steal for whoever scoops him up.    DE [player_tooltip player_id='2088792' first='Zane' last='Carley'], Tualatin — Tualatin in known for its playmakers.   And that's a scary proposition, because the stretch monsters have looked pretty impressive this offseason.   Carley is going to be part of one of the most dangerous defensive lines in the state this fall, now that [player_tooltip player_id='1614794' first='Kolby' last='Wofford'] and [player_tooltip player_id='937240' first='Isaiah' last='Ormond'] have transferred into the program.   Carley was a first-team all-league and second-team all-state selection last fall, registering seven tackles and 30 quarterback hurries.   Expect the sack numbers to make a leap now that offensive lines have to worry about the state's best pair of defensive tackles.    LB [player_tooltip player_id='1878396' first='Aidan' last='Galusha'], Dallas — The Dallas star was an absolute terror for opposing offenses last fall, and single-handedly ruined an opponent in the playoffs.   He finished the year with 76 tackles, nine sacks, nine tackles-for-loss, three forced fumbles and a punt and field goal block.    This offseason, Galusha was stellar at two different Prep Redzone events and then had a showing early in The Northwest Showcase.   He has picked up several small school offers, as well as a Division I opportunity at San Diego.   That still feels short of his talents.   Galusha's recruitment reminds me some of Mark Hamper.   Both were SS/OLB hybrids who were a bit “undersized,” but were undeniable playmakers on Friday nights.   Hamper went to Idaho and quickly transferred to Cal, an ACC program.   I don't know if Galusha will experience a similar rise, but it is beginning to feel silly that the Big Sky programs haven't offered more.   He's one of the best athletic defensive prospects in the entire state.    OL [player_tooltip player_id='937311' first='Alexander' last='Mishkin'], West Linn —West Linn is known for churning out one of the state's best offensive lines seemingly every single year.   Mishkin was a first-team all-league, second team all-state selection who could make the leap to first-team status this fall.   West Linn is a state title favorite this fall, and Mishkin's ability along the offensive line is clearly a significant piece of that puzzle.    The 6-foot-3, 285-pound lineman projects as an interior guy at the collegiate level and has picked up a Division I offer from San Diego.   TE [player_tooltip player_id='2054681' first='Oliver' last='Holverson'], Jesuit — A two-way first-team all-league selection last fall, Holverson has had strong showings at various camps this offseason and emerged as a coveted tight end prospect, While he'll need to continue to work on his hands and lateral speed, there's a clear path to him being a college contributor.   The 6-foot-5, 265-pound playmaker has picked up a collection of offers in recent weeks, including Lewis and Clark, Pacific, Linfield, San Diego,, Whitworth and others.
