Top Performers: Purdue Team Camp (Pt. 1)

Undersized but love his toughness and effort. Has some explosiveness to him. Quick to reach hole; one cut and go runner. Runs at a low pad level, teams struggle to see him behind the LOS, and if a gap opens he can be off to the races.  Tough blocker too. Can be hard to bring down when he gets in space, runs and finishes forward on contact. Needs to lose weight if he is to be on offense. Played some at defensive tackle during the inside run period where he flashed potential; could be a strong presence at DT and a decent run plugger at the college level. Not a top-tier athlete but gets by on his effort and motor. Good puller in the run game, quick to find a second level target and displays adequate use-of-hands. Seals off corner. Good hand placement, strike timing and punch. Decent leg drive. Leaner than Poindexter. Can collapse the pocket and maintain gap integrity v. the run, wraps up, takes good pursuit angles to ballcarriers. Tape shows a flashy first step, ability to encircle blockers and wrap up at the corner. Lawson displays a decent first step and has good anchor strength, can occupy multiple blockers and allow teammates to clean up the play. Good space-eater who can hold the point, decent block shedder and wraps up. Need to see some film.
