Prep Redzone Louisiana released its latest 2027 class rankings update Monday and continues taking a deeper dive into some of the newest developments.

A few familiar faces on the offensive side of the ball saw their rankings rise within — or, in one instance, into — the top 100 after strong performances junior year.

The movement started at the top with small — in terms of number of spots — but notable climbs by Brother Martin wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='723579' first='Easton' last='Royal'] from No. 4 to No. 1 and St. Augustine wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1323402' first='Miguel' last='Whitley'] and Franklin Parish running back [player_tooltip player_id='1610246' first='Trey' last='Martin'] into the top 10 at No. 6 and No. 9, respectively.

Here's a look at some of the more sizable leapers.

[player_tooltip player_id='1250291' first='Alex' last='Fontenot'] — 6-2, 190 WR — Alexandria

The Trojans' standout has been a highly ranked prospect from Prep Redzone Louisiana's earliest lists for the class and has particularly solidified himself among the best wide receivers in a strong class at the position during the past year with lasered 40-yard dashes in the 4.5-second range and a 1,000-yard junior campaign in his first season as the team's No. 1 target. Fontenot, who recently committed to Pittsburgh, consistently pops as a field-stretching deep threat, but is a well-rounded receiver who is explosive off the line, is an effective route-runner, has good size for the next level and does a nice job using his body when necessary to help shield defenders to create enough space to make catches in tight coverage.

[player_tooltip player_id='1251694' first='Jaylen' last='Haywood'] — 6-7, 375 OL — Amite

In recruiting game in which so much physical measurables represent so much stock, Haywood was quickly onto the radar as an imposing young lineman whose next-level frame already stood out at LSU camps as an underclassman. He's appeared to particularly attack his training during the past year, though, including his conditioning, to better prepare himself for college where Tulane, Texas State, Southern Miss, Nicholls State, McNeese State and Oklahoma State have been among the programs recruiting him in recent months.

[player_tooltip player_id='1250307' first='Jackilon' last='Roberson'] — 5-11, 170 WR — Westgate

As much as the Tigers' 2028 class garners the bulk of the headlines, Roberson continues to emerge as a notable prospect for the 2027 cycle and makes one of the biggest rankings leaps on the list of anyone in the state. The multisport standout is a smooth, speedy athlete capable of explosive plays anytime he's given a look from running by defenders on deep shots to turning quick passes into huge yards after the catch with his ability to make defenders miss and wind his way upfield. And he is comfortable and confident over the middle, including showing some savvy gearing up and down through or settling into windows in the defense to give quarterback a clear target. Troy, UNLV, Nicholls State and Lamar have all been among the programs to offer.

[player_tooltip player_id='1801742' first='Jackson' last='Shaw'] — 6-6, 260 OL/EDGE — Catholic-Baton Rouge

Part of the equation on Shaw is an adjustment to the offensive side of the ball where the one-time defensive end prospect showed particularly promising flashes as an offensive tackle during his junior season even despite missing some time to and battling through injury. He has a tall, long frame that began particularly intriguing college coaches, is listed about 30 pounds stronger than a year ago and is physically and mentally tough, smart and quick on his feet — checking a long list of boxes that should have Tulane excited have landed his recent commitment over his list of other suitors.

[player_tooltip player_id='1812209' first='Robert' last='Taylor'] — 6-4, 175 WR — Ferriday

Taylor initially hit the Prep Redzone Louisiana radar with limited, but intriguing footage and notable next-level measurables. But he furthered his care notably his junior year with 29 catches for 500 yards and 11 touchdowns in the fall as well as a standout performance on the Trojans' first state-championship basketball run in nearly 40 years. The Louisiana (Lafayette) commit possesses the long catch radius anticipated with his 6-foot-4 frame and uses it well to his advantage with strong hands and the ability to haul in even tough, stretching receptions well away from his body. And his springy athleticism makes him even more dangerous with his ability to go up and beat defenders at the catch point.

[player_tooltip player_id='1614578' first='John' last='Walker V'] — 6-1, 175 WR — Plaquemine

Louisiana (Lafayette) returned once again to its pipeline of talent from Plaquemine and feels as though it may have landed a particular steal in the productive pass-catcher who has racked up more than 1,400 yards and 17 touchdowns the past two seasons as an explosive weapon capable for attacking every level of the field while also being called upon in a range of other capacities. Walker has a strong lower body that helps him quickly accelerating out of his breaks or to blow by defenders with the ball in his hands and tracks the ball well down the field.
