Opening The Lindenwood Notebook: Day 1 Explosive Performances

<p>Undersized, under-recruited, under the radar are some general themes surrounding many of the top performers from the two day Lindenwood Mega Camp. PRZ was there for both days, with limited ability to observe much of the Day 1 workouts, but some prospects performed at a level that was impossible to ignore. Below are a few of the skill players who's workout should attract much more attention.</p>   <p><em>*** Use code <strong>StopPRZ30</strong> to crank 30% of your subscription to Prep Redzone ***</em></p>   <p></p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='1335415' first='Jeremiah' last='Reed'] | 2027 DB | Lift For Life Academy (MO)</h2>   <p>Affectionately referred to as "Doggy", Reed was an absolute DAWG throughout the course of the one on one portion of his session, and might've put together the best collection of reps at the event. Doggy was unconscious out there. He stayed attached to the hip pockets of receivers, making play after play, using the juice from his teammates in the stands as fuel, and was essentially unbeatable. Formerly of East St. Louis (IL), Reed is now at Lift For Life. He measured 5070 162, and tested 4.81x40, 10'0 broad jump, 30.9 vertical jump. He played much bigger and faster than the numbers.</p>   <p></p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='1591955' first='Kyler' last='Sutton'] | 2029 WR/DB | Ladue Horton Watkins (MO)</h2>   <p>Sutton was one that went both ways through the course of his session and was a top performer on both sides of the ball. On defense, he shut down everything. Attacking the ball, he was aggressive coming downhill and played with good explosivity and hustle. He would make a play in coverage, and then line up at receiver the next rep and high point a ball in the endzone. Sutton measured in at 5110 161, and tested 4.87x40, 9'0 broad jump, 27 vertical jump, good numbers for a rising sophomore.</p>   <p></p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='1229495' first='Dayon' last='Ross'] | 2028 DB | Cardinal Ritter College Prep (MO)</h2>   <p>Ross showed up for the final session of Day 1 and the final session of Day 2, and proved to be an absolute baller during both of them. The rising junior DB played much bigger and physical than his check in measurables of 5080 146. He recorded one of the faster 40 times of the camp at 4.48, and recorded some respectable explosion numbers for his age and size with a 9'9 broad and 30.2 vertical. Ross made multiple plays during his Day 1 session and displayed very good ability to read routes and anticipate.</p>   <p></p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='1598810' first='Reece' last='Shanklin'] | 2027 QB | East St. Louis (IL)</h2>   <p>Shanklin impresses with every opportunity to get a live observation of him on the hoof. He was not slated to perform along side the rest of the rising senior competitors, but performed at a high level nonetheless. Shanklin has excellent arm talent, and amongst the group he threw alongside, he was clearly on a different level. The ball explodes out, carries with great velocity to its target, and has tight spin. He delivery and release looks about as effortless as it could look. Shanklin is now standing at 6010 196, and although he didn't test, the athletic ability is evident. Shanklin is highly under-recruited considering his natural abilities.</p>   <p></p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='2158586' first='Jayden' last='McDaniel'] | 2027 WR | Bishop Miege (KS)</h2>   <p>McDaniel was one of the impressive pass catchers of the entire two day event. During his Day 1 session, he was incredibly difficult to contain. He was able to create easy separation, beat length with quickness, and won nearly all of his reps taken during the one on one period. McDaniel measured in at 6000 188 and ran 4.56 in the 40. His 9'6 broad and 27.3 vertical seemed rather mundane for as explosive a playmaker he proved to be in the one on ones.</p>   <p></p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='2176878' first='Javion' last='Oliver'] | 2027 WR | Carbondale (IL)</h2>   <p>The second time observing Oliver was very consistent with the first at the EDGYTIM Spring Showcase in April, where we recognized him as a top performer. This "dude in the white cap and green shirt" was toasting the coverage rep after rep, seemingly able to run by and separate from any defensive back that tried their hand. At the end of the day, comparing notes from the first observation, a lot of the same themes showed up - speed, quickness, hands, separation, deep threat, big play creator. Oliver came through at 5110 150 and tested 4.60x40, 32.5 vertical and 9'2 broad.</p>   <p></p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='2230533' first='Tyrique' last='Haynes'] | 2027 WR | Cahokia (IL)</h2>   <p>Haynes impressed with his route running ability. He was aggressive off the ball and performed with a dynamic level of execution. At the top of his routes he was sharp, across the middle he was effective, he broke off with violence and suddenness and only need the quarterback to put the ball on target. Haynes checked in at 5110 149 and ran 4.65x40 with a 9'8 broad.</p>   <p></p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='2104989' first='CJ' last='Willis'] | 2027 WR | Belleville (IL)</h2>   <p>Willis was memorable with his dynamic playmaking ability at the catch point despite his verified size at 5090 160. Willis came away with multiple circus catches during his session showing ball concentration and competitiveness at the catch point, drawing reactions from those in the stands looking on. Willis did not participate in the 40 but seemed to have greater explosiveness than his recorded a 9'0 broad and 30 vertical with the way he went out and competed.</p>   <p></p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='1608638' first='Brooklyn' last='Willis'] | 2027 DB | Lutheran St. Charles (MO)</h2>   <p>"Carde" checked in at 5090 155 and was another undersized DB that played big. Willis made multiple plays during the one on one portion of his session showing natural coverage and athletic ability. He was smooth in his movements, shifty in his redirection, displayed the ability to stay well in phase with the receiver and anticipate well, as well as good recovery speed. </p>   <p></p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='1601158' first='Daylen' last='Austin-Harvey'] | 2028 QB | Christian Brothers (MO)</h2>   <p>DAH measured in at 5110 145 with a 4.67x40, 29 vertical and 9'3 broad. Austin-Harvey possessed some of the best natural arm talent and quarterback mechanics amongst underclassmen signal callers at the two day event. Everything about his operation was smooth and controlled, the ball came out with tight spin, his throwing mechanics were effortless and the ball came out with good jump. In the off platform drills, Austin-Harvey put his athleticism on display. As he continues to develop his overall size and strength, his ball will only continue to improve.</p>   <p></p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='2230532' first='Donald' last='Murphy Jr.'] | 2028 LB | Hannibal (MO)</h2>   <p>Murphy was the linebacker that stood out on Day 1 with his combination of attributes. On the hoof, Murphy stands at a very solid looking 6020 229, and recorded 4.69x40, 27.4 vertical jump and 9'0 broad jump in the testing portion. Murphy played as physical as he looked using his size and strength at the catch point to influence and affect the receiver's ability to complete the rep. In space, Murphy put on display his ability to react and close on the football which resulted in multiple incomplete passes.</p>   <p></p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='1314216' first='Kai' last='Robinson'] | 2028 RB | Lutheran North (MO)</h2>   <p>Robinson displayed very good quickness and explosiveness throughout the entirety of his Day 1 session, in the individual drills as well as the one on one portions. He was very smooth through the agilities with his foot quickness and lateral mobility. Running routes, Robinson was aggressive, displayed great explosive strides and was quite natural at the catch point, catching the football easily with soft hands.
