Colleges have done well in mining Iowa's 2027 recruiting class. Twelve different guys have verbally committed to Power 4 programs. Quite a few others have pledged to FBS and FCS schools.

Even with those sizable numbers, a lot of talent from the state for the cycle remains in the board. Here's a closer look at a group of them:

[player_tooltip player_id='1617593' first='Pryor' last='Reiners'], ATH, Liberty

Announced offers: None.

The Situation: The lack of reported college interest in Reiners is kind of baffling. He's the leading receiver from a team that reached the Class 5A State Championship game for the first time in school history while also standing out as a defensive back. His junior highlights support his numbers, which, again, makes his recruitment a head-scratcher.

Reiners could help plenty of programs as a slot receiver. He tracks the ball very well and catches the it with his hands. His actions on defense allow for sticking well in coverage, and physicality and toughness stand out in run support. His skills are tailor-made for special teams' contributions.

Get Reiners in camp and watch him work. You won't be disappointed.

[player_tooltip player_id='1640412' first='Jake' last='Wailes'], LB, Atlantic

Announced offers: None.

The Situation: Colleges have shown interest in Wailes. The 2025 first-team all-district performer visited Missouri Western State University for a game in November. Wayne State visited him at Atlantic High during January, and he visited Dordt University in March.

Wailes shows during his junior highlight video that he's a high-energy player with toughness. He plays fast and would be a special teams' asset on the next level.

Wailes would do well to get in front of as many college coaches as possible at upcoming camps. He will confirm what he shows on film.

[player_tooltip player_id='1197486' first='Huxley' last='Lingenfelter'], TE/MLB, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows

Announced offers: Northern Iowa, Northwest Missouri State, Missouri Western, Sioux Falls.

The Situation: Lingenfelter has the type of projectable, 6-foot-3, 205-pound frame smart college programs bring into town and develop. The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows' senior-to-be gives scouts plenty to ponder when watching his junior highlight video.

Northern Iowa became the first school to reportedly offer Lingenfelter a scholarship when the Panthers did so during a campus visit on Jan. 31. Northwest Missouri State, Missouri Western and Sioux Falls extended opportunities last month. He visited South Dakota and Minnesota for junior days this spring.

[player_tooltip player_id='1646106' first='Riley' last='Haney'], RB/ATH, Center Point-Urbana

Announced offers: Morningside.

The Situation: Power is the name of the game when it comes to Haney. The 6-foot, 200-pounder reports bench pressing 335 pounds, squatting 500 and Deadlifting 600. That strength shows up on the field during his junior highlight video.

Schools at the next level view Haney has a prospect. He visited Morningside, which offered a scholarship during the stop, Upper Iowa and Southwest Minnesota State University in April. His list of camp invites included Oklahoma State, Cincinnati, North Dakota State, South Dakota State, Drake, Northern Iowa, Grand View, Valparaiso, Tennessee Tech and others.

Haney has a chance to boost his recruitment with a good run on the camp circuit. He also appears poised for an impactful final prep season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1657829' first='Josiahs' last='Spates'], ATH, Waterloo East

Announced offers:

The Situation: Spates is another student-athlete in Iowa's 2027 Class that is deserving of more attention along the recruiting trail. Strong performances on the college camp circuit combined with his junior highlight video should lead to more interest in a versatile athlete capable of developing on either side of the ball while chipping in on special teams. His track speed that led him to running at Drake Relays translates into a significant ceiling.

Iowa State played host to Spates last year. Northern Iowa and Upper Iowa also have shown interest in him.

There's still time for colleges to catch on here. They payoff could be rewarding for all involved.
