Impactful DBs to Watch in Lexington This Season

As we get near the end of June, the 2026 high school football season is getting closer and closer. The offseason is in full swing and players across the state of Kentucky are looking to make a name for themselves. With that being said, I wanted to take a look at the city of Lexington in particular and highlight some players at each position to keep an eye on this season. After already covering the offensive side of the ball, I have now turned my attention to the defensive side of the ball. With the front seven already being taken care of, here are five defensive backs to watch in Lexington this upcoming season.    [player_tooltip player_id='378835' first='Jordan' last='Haskins'] has continued to show that he is the top safety in the state in his class over the past few seasons. He does a great job of reading routes and the quarterback effectively then flowing through the secondary accordingly. When the ball is thrown his way, he has shown impressive ball skills, coming away with three interceptions in nine games as a junior. He also recorded 50 tackles, one tackle for loss, and a sack, and made an impact on offense, scoring four rushing touchdowns and throwing four touchdown passes. Haskins is committed to Louisville where I can see him developing into a key member of their secondary.     [player_tooltip player_id='1314812' first='Cionne' last='Conn'] is another safety from Lexington who has been very impressive over the past three years. Conn shows great instincts in the secondary, reading the play then breaking on the ball with perfect timing when it is thrown in his direction. He came away with a team-high three interceptions in 13 games last season. Cionne also does a great job of filling the lane to make tackles against the run, finishing his junior year with 55 tackles and two tackles for loss. Conn holds multiple Division I offers and I expect them to continue to pile up for him heading into his senior season.     [player_tooltip player_id='1200560' first='Demond' last='Green'] is coming off an impressive first season with the Broncos. He lined up at corner where he proved to be very reliable in man coverage. Green uses his speed to run with opposing receivers with ease to mirror their routes then uses his instincts to break in front of them with perfect timing to make a play on the ball, finishing last season with several pass breakups. He has also shown the ability to run sideline to sideline to make tackles against the run, finishing his junior season with 57 tackles and seven tackles for loss in 13 games. Demond recently committed to Ball State where I can see him being a true impact player at the next level.     [player_tooltip player_id='2156982' first='Toby' last='Robinson'] caught my attention with a strong sophomore year. Robinson lines up at corner where he has shown the ability to thrive in both man and zone coverage. When the ball is thrown his way, he has shown the ability to attack it at its highest point to come away with an interception, finishing this past season with two in 13 games, returning one of them for a touchdown. He also recorded 37 tackles and half a tackle for loss as a sophomore. Toby is a player who college coaches should have their eyes on over the next couple seasons.     My final defensive back to keep an eye on in Lexington this upcoming season is [player_tooltip player_id='1042321' first='Jeremiah' last='Burbage']. Burbage is a lockdown corner on the outside, showing the ability to stay in the opposing receiver's hip pocket with ease to mirror their routes. When the ball is thrown his way, he reacts with perfect timing to fight across the receiver to break up the pass. He has shown the ability to provide run support, accounting for 24 tackles in 14 games as a sophomore. Burbage also made an impact on offense this past season, catching 13 passes for 275 yards and three touchdowns. Jeremiah currently holds offers from Middle Tennessee State, Eastern Kentucky, and Grambling State, and I wouldn't be surprised to see more come his way this summer.
