It has already been a busy camp season this June, with big camps in the region at Lindenwood, Baker, William Jewell, OU, OSU and Washburn among others in the past week alone.

And it's about time...

The off-season grinders have made themselves ready over the preceding months and have been waiting for the opportunity to optimize camp exposure by showcasing their game and next-level measurables.

And, the camps have not disappointed, as quite a few offers are being made on the spot.

In this report we are taking a look at five guys who have been going scorched earth in camps so far and are reinforcing that they have the kind of elite game that projects positively at the next level.

The first two are senior multi-positional athletes with D1 talent, followed by a couple of junior d-backs who are arguably best in class for the '28 ballers, and then wrap up with a high-ceiling sophomore ready to make his case for being the best this fall.

So, without further adieu, let's see check these guys out:

[player_tooltip player_id='1612742' first='Joseph' last='Mortensen'], ATH/DB/KR, 5'11, 185, Manhattan, '27, for this state champ, the off-season has been fast and furious fine-tuning his craft and optimizing exposure. He was recently honored to be named a team captain for this fall, and has been busy on the camp circuit the last few weeks, hitting OSU and Kansas in early June and just returned from a good performance at the Washburn camp yesterday. Next up is K-State on the 14th, Missouri Western the last week and then NW Missouri and Pitt State in July. He is a versatile 3-way athlete who can play as many as eight positions on both sides of the ball. Using his 10.6 100m/4.4 forty speed and athleticism, he seamlessly shifts back and forth from lockdown CB/S to Wildcat QB/RB to scorching return man. He plays a high-IQ game with sharp read and react skills and anticipation and when he locks in, takes it to another gear. This state-champ, all-state, team captain is ready for another sizzling season seeking to repeat as 6A champs.

[player_tooltip player_id='1362958' first='Levi' last='McLaughlin'] , 6'3, 200, DB/WR, Rose Hill, '27, next up for the seniors is a talented defensive back with prototype size, length, speed and athleticism who has been showcasing his next-level skills for the last few years and recently received his first D1 offer from South Dakota State following a strong performance at Lindenwood. His schedule continues to ramp up this summer with camps coming up at Illinois State, SMU, and KU. So far he has received 10+ offers and continues to super-charge his elite game training with Coach Tabor and PIA and has produced some impressive measurables to date, including a 4.4 forty, 4.2 shuttle and an explosive 10'2" broad jump. He is coming off an excellent junior year with 61 tackles and did not allow a TD pass all season. After football wrapped up he had a great season playing 7v7 with the Kansas Colts and has been grinding through his training waiting to show his stuff this camp season. This guy is going to be en fuego this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1351253' first='Carter' last='Raney'], 5'10, 180, LB/SS, Spring Hill, '28, up first for the junior playmakers is a baller defensive back who has had a strong off-season and has generated quite a bit of interest on the camp circuit so far. He has been grindin' since the season ended, fine-tuning both the mental and physical aspects of the game, working on DB mechanics with Coach Harper and @HarperIsland24 and speedwork/conditioning with @Gridiron_Fit three days a week, as well as powerlifting on the side. Once June arrived he has been busy pounding the summer weight program and has a busy team camp and 7v7 schedule already in process against schools like Aquinas, Basehor-Linwood, Miege and several Blue Valley programs. His camp schedule continues to heat up as he is headed to Oklahoma State on 6/21, Missouri Western on 6/27, and then Emporia State and Pittsburg in July. This guy plays an instinctive, athletic game with great closing speed and is primed for a dominating season this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1433319' first='Cooper' last='Cranston'], 6'1, 195, ATH, Holcomb, '28, up next is this Western Kansas phenom who is a multi-sport, record-breaking, elite athlete who just led his team to the state title in track, setting the state record in the 110m hurdles and taking first in the 4x1 relay along the way. He has also had a busy camp season raking in the D1 attention, including recent offers from KU, K-State, OU, Oklahoma State, among others, and most recently at Lindenwood when he received an offer from Minnesota. Last fall he put an exclamation point on his 3-way game when he ran, passed, received and returned for 2,200+ all-purpose yards and scored 25 touchdowns. He was even better on defense, as he was one of the state leaders in interceptions with 8 and also had 55 tackles. And if that isn't enough he also averaged 36 yards per punt. Once you see this guy play you immediately know you are getting the opportunity to see an elite athlete in action. This do-it-all playmaker is the real deal, folks, get out and see him play while you still can.

[player_tooltip player_id='1649519' first='Mason' last='Arndt'] , 5'10, 185, Aquinas, DB/RB, '29, last and certainly not least we have a baller approaching his sophomore year who has flown under the radar somewhat so far but not for long, and especially after the outstanding off-season measurables he has been showcasing on the camp circuit so far. Since the first of the year he has been training multiple days a week with Joseph Potts with Topspeed, to get ready for his sophomore year. He has already performed well at the Kansas and Kansas-State Camps and really stepped it up at the KC Varsity Camp in late April when I was on hand to see him win the Defensive Back Co-MVP award. His measurables continue to get attention as he puts his explosiveness/speed on display with a 38" vertical, 4.49 forty and a blistering 3.97 shuttle. This guy worked his way into the starting lineup in the secondary for the powerful Saints as a freshman and continues to show he is ready to take it to the next level this fall.

In conclusion, get out and see these guys dominate this fall - you will not be disappointed. Also, DM me via X if you run across any players flying under the radar.

And, as usual…
