Elite 2028 Front Seven Defenders Emerging in Central Texas

<p>South Central Texas has been a hot bed for talent in recent years. The front seven in any defense has the potential to control the tempo of a game and make game changing plays. From disruptive defensive linemen to instinctive linebackers, there are several prospects who are establishing themselves as names to know in this region heading into the fall. We spotlight several up and coming defenders who had phenomenal sophomore seasons to put themselves on the recruiting radar and they are set to be major prospects heading into their junior seasons.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Butler is one of the fastest rising prospects in the state of Texas in the 2028 class. He has great instincts combined with disciplined eyes that enable him be in position to make timely plays. Butler gets downhill quickly, plays fast but under control and he brings physicality in the run support. He is a sticky defender in pass coverage, showing the ability to move fluidly in space and get in position to make plays on the football. His versatile skill set has been a main reason that his profile on the recruiting trail has risen this offseason. UNLV, Arkansas State, Southern Miss as well as Syracuse are just a few of the programs who have sent offers his way, to go along with interest from the likes of Oklahoma State, Maryland, TCU, Arizona State and Kentucky. He has an explosive first step, his ability to bend and attack with speed allows him to win his matchups consistently. Tyler uses his violent hands combined with a stiff punch at engagement to his advantage, allowing him to overpower his opponents at the point of attack. His next level athleticism and high motor are several traits that you see immediately when watching his in game film. He plays with great technique and his hand placement enables him to stun and shock blockers at impact, allowing him to hold his ground in run support. Samuel is a disruptive force on the interior who makes it difficult for offenses to gain ground. He is a disruptive difference maker who plays through the whistle. His elite first step and explosive get off, are two traits that allow him to cause havoc as a pass rusher. Brady can make plays from the linebacker position, showing the ability to be a threat on all three downs. He had an extremely productive sophomore season, racking up 60 tackles, 7 TFLs and 2 forced fumbles. He was selected as the 12-6A Newcomer of The Year in 2025. He gets downhill quickly, he plays under control and he is a thumper in run support. Matthew shows great patience, he uses his hands well at engagement and he plays with excellent leverage coming off the edge. He has excellent lateral quickness and his ability to change directions in a hurry enables him to make plays in space. Manny can defend from sideline to sideline, showing the speed to run down ball carriers in the open field. As a sophomore he was highly productive, totaling 99 tackles, 41 solo tackles, 11 TFLs and 4 sacks.
