Colleges have done well in mining Iowa's 2027 recruiting class. Twelve different guys have verbally committed to Power 4 programs. Quite a few others have pledged to FBS and FCS schools.

Even with those sizable numbers, a lot of talent from the state for the cycle remains in the board. Here's a closer look at a group of them:

[player_tooltip player_id='1706491' first='Eli' last='Eckerman'], LB, Waukee Northwest

Announced offers: None.

The Situation: College coaches seeking proven production might want to look Eckerman's way. He's coming off of a junior campaign that saw him register 37.5 tackles, 25 of which were of the solo variety, with 9.0 stops for loss, 4.5 sacks and a pair of forced fumbles. The 11th-grade highlight video reveals an active, high-motor linebacker with the flexibility to fit at multiple positions on the next level while also impacting special teams.

Northwestern College, Missouri Western State University, Saint John's and Upper Iowa invited the all-district performer to junior days and spring practices. He's been requested at camps at Kansas State, Central Michigan, North Dakota State and Southeast Missouri State.

[player_tooltip player_id='1687018' first='Max' last='Tew'], OL, Bishop Heelan

Announced offers: None.

The Situation: Tew's recruiting process has been steady this offseason following a strong junior campaign that saw him help Bishop Heelan reach the state championship game in 2025. We can see the talents that led to all-district laurels when watching his 11th-grade highlight video. The traits are there for success as a center on the next level.

Tew participated in Iowa State's big man camp last summer and took a game-day visit to Dakota State University in October. He visited Northwestern College in February, was at Morningside and Buena Vista in March, stopped at Central in April and took in a Briar Cliff junior day last month.

Wayne State had him at camp last month. He's been invited to quite a few other camps that could help him raise his stock along the recruiting trail.

[player_tooltip player_id='1361291' first='Joey' last='Goodwin'], OL, Cedar Falls

Announced offers: None.

The Situation: When it comes to programs getting it done in producing prospects for the next level, Cedar Falls ranks high on the list. The Tigers boast a long history of memorable names in college football, some of whom have gone on to success in the pros.

That's what makes it surprising that Goodwin hasn't received more attention from schools looking for a technically sound offensive lineman with plenty of room for further development. He shows that during his junior highlight video for a Cedar Falls outfit that once again reached the playoffs.

St. Ambrose University and Bemidji State invited him to junior days. He's been invited to summer camps at South Dakota State and Chadron State. Others have been slowing reacting to the talent here.

[player_tooltip player_id='1615945' first='Jenner' last='Hoekstra'], LB, Wilton

Announced offers: Wisconsin-River Falls, Wisconsin-Platteville.

The Situation: Hoekstra played an important role in underdog Wilton reaching the state semifinals at the UNI-Dome last season, when it put up a good fight before falling to eventual champion Kuemper Catholic. The high-energy junior contributed on both sides of the ball.

The production has sparked interest from colleges. Hoekstra took in a Wisconsin-River Falls junior day in February. The Falcons later offered him. Wisconsin-Platteville has followed with an offer.

Hoekstra would do well at college team camps and should take schools up on invitations as they arrive. He also can increase his exposure with a big senior season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1705105' first='AJ' last='Huber'], OL/DL, North Scott

Announced offers: Minnesota Mankato.

The Situation: Colleges are way behind when it comes to pursuing Huber, a prospect with a projectable frame and a whole lot of upside. Relative to talent, he's being under-recruited. It can be seen when watching his junior highlight video.

Following a game-day visit to Iowa Central last season, Huber took in junior days and spring practices earlier this year at Northern Iowa (twice), Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Wisconsin-Platteville, Drake, Northern Illinois and Iowa. He's already camped recently at North Central and UNI, and has scheduled camps at Iowa, Iowa State, Northwestern and Drake for this month.

Minnesota Mankato offered him his first scholarship on May 21. The Mavericks visited him at North Scott earlier in the month, when Northern Illinois also stopped by the school.
