Around Kentucky: South Warren's Rising Prospects

After hitting <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/06/around-kentucky-frederick-douglass-rising-prospects/">Lexington (Frederick Douglass)</a> and <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/06/around-kentucky-st-xavier-tigers-rising-prospects/">Louisville (St. Xavier)</a> on Monday and Tuesday, we're heading west to Bowling Green to check out Prep Redzone's No. 1-ranked team this preseason -- South Warren.    [player_tooltip player_id='498038' first='Takyon' last='Darden'] is a relentless defender for South Warren who put some impressive plays on tape over his junior season. Darden demonstrated his football IQ by reading plays and reacting quickly to them. His pre-snap recognition sets him apart from other linebacker prospects, as he can anticipate where the ball is going and is often the first to find the ball carrier in these situations. He's up to 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds heading into his senior year, and is a candidate to turn some heads this season for the Spartans.     One of [player_tooltip player_id='1658496' first='Corbin' last='Logan']'s biggest strengths is his ability to read a quarterback in pass protection. He's a reliable defender against deep balls, which eventually translated into him finishing his junior season with 11 pass breakups and three interceptions. Logan initiates contact cleanly and is a hard-hitter, ensuring his opposing WR will have to work to haul in the catch. While he's a disciplined cornerback in pass coverage, he can also stuff a receiver at the line of scrimmage. Look for him to have a strong senior season this fall.     [player_tooltip player_id='1238085' first='Khysen' last='Buford'] plays both defensive end and middle linebacker for South Warren. He's able to provide great pressure on the edge and can anticipate where the ball carrier is heading. His hustle is unquestioned, as Buford is often diving for tackles, flying to the football, and applying pressure to the backfield on any given snap. At 6-foot and 206 pounds, he has the body type of a linebacker but is arguably most successful as a pass rusher along the edge.     Justin Capps has a knack for getting open. He's quick and always finds himself a step ahead of his defender down the field. His long stride allows him to be a consistent deep threat for the Spartans. He's a playmaker with the ball in his hands, as Capps finished the season with 30 receptions for 592 yards and eight touchdowns. That's good for 19.7 yards per catch last season, something that he'll try to replicate this fall.     A RB/WR hybrid, Colton Lyons is a shifty running back who can get downhill in a hurry and find open space. He has quick feet, and he can easily outrun a defense out of the backfield. This speed helps him out wide when he plays receiver, too. He's a solid route runner who can be a deep ball threat thanks to his agility. However, his ability to avoid tackles and slip his way through a defense is what stands out the most from his freshman tape.     A Class of 2029 RB, [player_tooltip player_id='2115949' first='Walker' last='Summers'], put together some impressive film as a freshman last season at South Warren. He's a speedy back, but that doesn't stop him from being patient with the ball in his hands and waiting for his blocks before turning on the jets. Summers does a good job running north and south and isn't easy to bring down. He often makes the first man miss. As he continues to develop and produce more varsity tape, Summers is a name to watch in western Kentucky.
