The summer rankings update is almost here. Over the next several weeks, we'll be updating and expanding our boards while continuing evaluation across the state. This cycle will include updated rankings, debut rankings, and additional coverage leading into the team preview season. PRZ has been tracking college offers, updated film, and standout camp performances since our winter update, and will give you the most accurate and expansive rankings of WV high school prospects you can find.
Here's the full schedule and what subscribers can expect from each release.
2027 RANKINGS UPDATE: JUNE 1
150 PROSPECTS RANKED -> 200 PROSPECTS RANKED
The first update of the summer will focus on the 2027 class as we continue refining the rising senior class. Expect movement throughout the board, position battles, and adjustments based on continued film review and long-term projection. While this won't be a complete rebuild of the rankings, there are several areas of the class that continue to evolve.
2028 RANKINGS UPDATE: JUNE 8
125 PROSPECTS RANKED -> 150 PROSPECTS RANKED
The rising junior class enters one of the most important evaluation periods of their high school careers. Physical development, expanded roles, and another year of film will shape this update as the board continues to take form. This class has already shown strong depth and should continue growing moving forward as one of the most talented classes in recent memory.
2029 RANKINGS DEBUT: JUNE 15
100 PLAY WATCH LIST -> 75 PROSPECTS RANKED
This will be our first look at the 2029 rankings after debuting the Watch List this winter. As we begin identifying early standouts across the state, these rankings are designed to establish an early baseline and will continue evolving as players develop throughout their careers.
HOW MOVEMENT HAPPENS
Rankings are never based on one thing.
Several factors are considered throughout the evaluation process:
- Film evaluation
- Production and role
- Athletic profile and projection
- Physical development
- Position value
- Long-term upside
- Competition level
Not every player develops at the same pace, which is why movement can happen throughout the year.
WHAT WE'RE WATCHING
Before these updates are finalized, here are a few things drawing attention:
- Position groups that have become deeper
- Players making strong offseason progress
- Programs producing more emerging talent
- New names pushing for ranking consideration
- Continued development from younger classes

Will there be movement?
Yes. Some areas of the rankings are tighter than others, but movement should happen throughout all classes.
Will new players be added?
Yes. New evaluations happen every cycle.
Are these rankings final?
No. Rankings evolve as players grow and continue putting new film out. Final rankings happen for the senior class after their final season.
