Trench Talk: 2028 Offensive Lineman Poised for a Big Season

Colorado is a breeding ground for talented offensive lineman that take their talents to the next level of play. I selected 5 players who are poised for a big season. I believe they will prove to the state and recruiters why they demand their attention. Let's dive into my analysis.    Leach measures in at 6'5 285-pounds mainly playing tackle; however, he can play guard too. Leach is a rising star at the OL position, learning from Six Zero and refining his technique. Good initial quickness out of his stance. Very good hand speed to put hands in position to pass block or run block. Maintains a low pad level with his good knee bend and flexibility. Right off the bat, you'll see Leach has very good strength, hand strength, and hand placement. Controls his opponent. Leach excels in pass protection. Sustains his feet and balance with a very good anchor and initial contact to neutralize the pass rusher. Leach consistently prevents the pocket from collapsing. Very good foot quickness. Leach is also patient in pass protection, not getting overzealous and biting on pass rush moves. He consistently plays through the whistle with his very good competitive toughness. Kid is a dawg and he's just getting started.     Firmin has a lot of potential and recently started training with Six Zero Academy to refine his technique! Firmin measures in at 6'1 280-pounds. Plays guard for Erie. Good initial quickness with good hand speed. Good foot quickness and uses his good balance to stay upright combatting pass rushers. Firmin gets low to out leverage his opponents with his knee bend and flexibility. Displays very good strength, hand strength, with good hand placement. Strong hands to grab ahold of his opponent and not let go till the play is finished. Firmin does a good job playing through the whistle and showing his tenacity. Good acceleration to block out in space, or on run block on the move. With more refinement to his technique, look for him to dominate the competition.     Curry is an exciting lineman for Arapahoe. Measures in at 6'3 305-pounds, he can play guard or tackle. At the next level, I project him to be a guard. Curry uses his good initial quickness and very good hand speed to contact defenders first. Maintains a low pad level throughout due to his good knee bend and body control. Very good strength, hand strength, and hand placement. He locks outs, controls, and steers his opponent creating running lanes or extra time in the pocket for his QB. Curry has controlled footwork and good foot quickness. He's an immoveable anchor. Puts his feet in the ground and uses his balance and body control to stand tall. Curry has solid acceleration to run block on the move and has good pull blocking. He's an under recruited prospect that deserves more looks than he currently has!     Lenhart measures in at 6'3 245-pounds playing tackle for Palmer Ridge. He's another player that I project as a guard at the next level. Lenhart displays a good initial quickness out of his stance with good hand speed. Uses a low pad level to out leverage his opponent. Good foot quickness to match pass rusher's and lock them out. In pass protection, he'll sustain his feet with his good balance and body control. Good anchor. Lenhart has shown athleticism to run block on the move. Good acceleration to block out in space for screens or out on the perimeter. As he continues to refine his technique working with Six Zero Academy, look for a breakout season for the young lineman.     Thompson plays guard for Forge Christian. He measures in at 6'1 310-pounds. He's a big body who plugs up gaps and makes it tougher for defensive lineman to break through in the run game. Thompson displays a good initial quickness out of his stance. Good hand speed. Maintains a low pad level due to his good knee bend and flexibility. Uses his very good hand strength and placement to take control of the defender. Very good strength. Uses his good body control and balance to help achieve a good anchor. Good pull blocking. Thompson also displays very good competitive toughness. He consistently plays through the whistle and helps looks for work when uncovered. Keep an eye on Thompson this off-season.
