Tennessee high school football is loaded with talented receivers, especially in Division II-AA. From frame and athleticism to versatility and route running, several standout wideouts bring unique traits to the field each Friday night.

In this Prep Redzone scouting series, I'm building the ultimate player at every position and classification by combining the best size, skills, traits and intangibles from top prospects across the state. There's just one rule: each player can be used only once, unless necessary.

Next in the series, I'm doing Division II-AA wide receivers. By blending the best qualities of four different playmakers, I've created the blueprint for the perfect pass catcher in this classification heading into the 2026 Tennessee football season.

WR Frame: 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='903033' first='Omarii' last='Sanders'] – Franklin Road Academy

FRA's [player_tooltip player_id='903033' first='Omarii' last='Sanders'] is one of the nation's elite defensive back prospects for his class, currently committed to Vanderbilt. However, he is also one of the best wide receivers in Tennessee and is on this list for his incredible frame.

He stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 205 pounds in a strong, lengthy frame that allows Sanders to be as violent as he is. The four-star has plenty of strength and a thick body that makes him unstoppable as an outside receiver, which is why I chose him for this.

WR Athleticism: 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='1030085' first='Max' last='Curry'] – Battle Ground Academy

It was not even a question who I was going to choose for this category. [player_tooltip player_id='1030085' first='Max' last='Curry'] from BGA is an incredible athlete who dominated last season, finishing with 57 catches for 1,404 yards and 20 touchdowns in 14 games. He also happens to be arguably the most physically gifted receiver in Tennessee in terms of athletic ability.

Curry recently notched a 4.36-second 40-yard dash, has elite quickness, great fluidity, good burst and is explosive on the gridiron. He has tremendous footwork and moves well all over the field, making it impossible for people to guard him.

WR Hands: 2029 [player_tooltip player_id='1537396' first='Maddox' last='Porter'] – Battle Ground Academy

[player_tooltip player_id='1537396' first='Maddox' last='Porter'] did unbelievable things on the football field as a freshman last season, totaling over 1,500 receiving yards with 27 touchdowns. He has elite tools across the board, but arguably the most important piece of this position is having good hands, which he does. No matter how difficult the play is, it always seems like the rising sophomore comes down with the football.

He possesses strong hands and offers an underrated level of physicality that allows him to make contested grabs. Porter high-points the ball well, which is key to making catches downfield and against good defense. He tracks the ball at an elite level and does a good job of tucking it before making a move after the catch.

WR Versatility: 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='1556594' first='Lawrence' last='Britt'] – Lausanne Collegiate School

[player_tooltip player_id='1556594' first='Lawrence' last='Britt'] is one of the nation's most coveted recruits and arguably the most dynamic in Tennessee. He contributes so much to the Lausanne offense as a receiver, a rusher and even some production as a passer. While the rising senior is a wideout at the next level, he is an elite athlete who does it all.

Prep Redzone's No. 10 overall player in the 2027 class lines up outside, where he's able to do a lot all over the gridiron. Britt is a speedy player who excels at running down the field and over the middle, where he can make every catch. He's also athletic enough to get involved on screens, RPOs and short stuff, where he typically shakes defenders for chunk plays.

WR Route Running: 2029 [player_tooltip player_id='1537396' first='Maddox' last='Porter'] – Battle Ground Academy

I typically don't like using players more than once. In fact, it's in my rulebook that I cannot use them more than once unless I absolutely must. However, Porter is the No. 1 receiver in Tennessee, regardless of class, so there was no way I couldn't use him twice. The 2029 prospect is the best route runner in this classification, and it's by a relatively wide margin.

His technique and fluidity help him dominate in this area, but he also gets off the line extremely well. Porter has good break and consistently creates separation, at which point his hands take over. The rising sophomore's route tree is impressive, as well as his execution and quick cuts.
