Camp season is here! Several schools are holding camps today (5/29) and this weekend, including UW- La Crosse and Winona State. With that we are seeing dozens upon dozens of athletes dusting off the cleats, helmets, and shoulder pads and preparing to show off their talents. These next 6-8 weeks is primetime for these athletes to showcase where they are at in their development and prove to coaches and scouts that they have what it takes to play at the next level in some manner. Personally there are a lot of 2028s that I will be hoping to cross paths with this summer. Today we talk about just a few of them and why I want to see them. Let's get into it!

Ben might be at the very top of my list of all athletes that I want to see work in person. The 2028 was already such an impressive athlete going back to the 2025 season. He has a rare frame for a sophomore who could play WR, RB, and LB for Xavier. A frame that has him looking like a man among boys while being an underclassman vs primarily upperclassmen. On tape we see the quickly developing speed and the power to break arm tackles. I want to see him in person and see how fluid he is in space, get numbers on how he tests, and also see what position he focuses on primarily at events. Ben is such a versatile and talented athlete. Hope to watch him working in person soon.

The OL group in the Class of 2028 is not lacking any depth. It is also still seeing a lot of battling for the top spots in the Class. One such OL working his way towards being a top OL in the Class is Menasha's [player_tooltip player_id='1709855' first='Noah' last='Kiley']. The 6'4" 255 lbs '28 has two camps remaining on his slate with the Whitewater Mega Camp and the NDSU team camp. I was able to get to the Whitewater camp last year, and hope to return this summer. That would be a great environment for the rising '28 to showcase where he is at physically. Looking back to where he was in 2025, the varsity left tackle plays on a talented pair of feet. Feet that easily get him to his target and in proper leveraging. They also are able to churn through blocks to move men and the '28 is a natural at using his length to gain control throughout battles. I'm very excited to see the buzz he could create this summer.

Ty is coming off a season where he was able to put out a ton of tape showing that he is rapidly improving as a run blocker. He is quick to close on his man and is already able to play with the strength to move DL in the trenches. However, this season Homestead was so dominant on the ground that he didn't get much work through the air. I hope to cross paths with Ty because I believe this summer he will solidify the fact that he is working towards becoming a three down TE. I believe he will be able to verify that he has the tools to be a mismatch. Especially if he can produce close to his reported 4.39 shuttle and 10'11" broad jump. Keep an eye out for Ty this summer.

Nic was primarily the 2nd TE for Monona Grove as a sophomore, leading to him seeing action as a blocker most of the time. That is an important part of the position so it is great to be able to give coaches confidence that you can do it successfully and consistently. This summer I hope to see Nic in person because I want to see what he can do as a receiver. I want to see how well he can move around with that steadily growing 6'5" 210 lbs frame before and after the catch. I want to see how natural his hands are, how he uses his size to his advantage and how he creates separation. I'm so excited for this next year for Nic. I think he can be a massive breakout player.

Another TE that I hope to cross paths with this summer in the Class of 2028 is West Bend West's [player_tooltip player_id='1709713' first='Logan' last='Spaeth']. The big man is now up to an impressive 6'4" 250 lbs, so he will be one of the biggest athletes at any camp he attends this summer. That size has been great for him as he was primarily a run blocker in 2025 on his way to Honorable Mention All Conference honors. Getting reps in 1 on 1 vs LBs will be huge for the '28 out of WBW. We will get to see how he can get open, if he has the athleticism to be able to create a mismatch, and just how easily he catches the football. The '28 TE Class is looking like a good one, and Logan could really push himself towards the top with a strong summer.

This was an easy choice to bring up in this article. Ryan spent his sophomore season leading the entire state of Wisconsin in tackles with 170+. The kid was all over the field making stops, sniffing out plays, and providing his defense with a reliable presence in the middle of the defense. I really want to see how Ryan tests. He isn't the biggest LB, so I want to see the numbers he puts up. Is he making plays from the athleticism? Is it from a very high quality football IQ and instincts? Or does he bring it all to the field? I hope to see Ryan in person and watch him answer those questions.

The Pewaukee LB factory is running overtime with their Class of 2028. One of those members is [player_tooltip player_id='1308431' first='Bryson' last='King'], a 6'3" 190 lbs athlete who piled up over 100 tackles in 2025. A performance that helped him earn All Conference Honorable Mention in the Classic 8 conference. That early production has me very excited for his potential ceiling. Even more so because he has the frame for the position and room to continue to add bulk to it over the coming years. This summer at camps I want to see the impressive LB in space. I want to see how he drops, changes direction, and reads and reacts to routes from RBs and/or TEs. I know he can do the dirty work and stop the run. This camp season will be a great chance to put up strong numbers and then prove he can be a three down LB who can run defend and cover.

Juan has a chance to be a massive riser in the overall rankings and among the RB position itself. The 6'1" 180 lbs '28 is extremely athletically gifted. He has a reported 4.49 40 and also put up a 4.51 at the WFCA Combine in early May. He also showed off some great burst and agility with his 36.9" vertical, and 10'1" broad jump. The reason I want to see him in person is because I am confident he can be a top testing athlete at any camp and also because I want to see how he moves with the football, and how well he can catch out of the backfield. Juan has the tools to be a special RB. I hope to see them on full display.
