Minnesota's 2026 outdoor track & field season has been rockin'! Per usual, PRZMN is seeing multi-sport standouts make a name for themselves sprinting, jumping, and throwing, sometimes at an elite level, and it's worth mentioning that Minnesota is still currently home to one of the best multi-sporters in the nation in Triton's Pierce Peterson. The future Virginia Tech Hokies' TE, while coming in at 6'5, 210, has gone 10.71 in the 100M dash, 2:00.68 in the 800 (broke a school record from 1996), 6'10" in the high jump, and 47.24 in the 400M (#1 in MN, 39th-best in the country this spring), so make sure you bask in the elite athleticism while we have it. However, Minnesota's multi-sport, track & field scene is in good hands with some of these up-and-coming 2028 track athletes. Get to know them below!

--

2028s

Your new Minnesota 2028 #1 is here! In an awesome representation of Greater Minnesota and the small school ranks, your new #1 is also a 9Man player, and from a town of under 300, no less! Hills-Beaver Creek's 2028 ATH and projected LB is on a heckuva tear this school year. A state football championship, state basketball title, HBC's first basketball title ever, by the way, a Class A All-Tournament team selection, then come seven D1 offers, six of which are P4, then comes the track success.

Where to start! Metzger, whose purpose here is to highlight his track & field numbers, has popped off a ridiculous 11.46 100M, 23.84 200M 6' high jump, and 18'7.75" long jump at 6'4, 200ish, more than promising numbers for a sophomore. Metzger has earned offers from South Dakota State, Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, Illinois, and Michigan State offers, all since April 12th, and the first of which were coming in before the updated track times started pouring in, which speaks to Metzger's film and gridiron production more than anything else.

Last fall, in HBC's 2025 Class 9Man state championship campaign and 13-0 undefeated record, Metzger earned First Team 9Man All-State, All-District, and All-Area honors after posting 62 receptions for 1,096 yards and 18 TDs, 51 rushes for 483 yards and 8 TDs, and 57 tackles, 9 TFLs, 2 sacks, 1 INT. He was the best player on the field every game he played in last fall and owns tons of Big Game experience, particularly at U.S. Bank Stadium, showing up when the lights were the brightest and the pressure was most in your face.

Offensively, Metzger owns long arms equal a big catch radius, and the 6'4 athlete has especially strong hands that can pluck the ball out of the air, away from his body, and in contested catch & 50/50 ball situations. He demonstrates game-breaking acceleration and burst from a dead stop , as well great vision and patience as a ball carrier, as he smoothly floats by defenders in the open field and like they're stuck in the mud. The sophomore stepped in at QB on more than a few occasions and produced some electric, Johnny Football-esque scrambles and improvised gains for his offense. He also shows twitchy, sudden footwork and COD skills in the open field and with the rock in-hand, is a devastating blocker when called upon, and is nasty at the top of the route and can cut and drop his hips at top speed.

Defensively, operating as an off-ball OLB, Metzger reads, processes, reacts, and triggers on the football with impressive pace and closing speed, and can see, work, and sift through traffic cleanly and quickly. He's a violent, aggressive, and physically dominant tackler at the contact point and is an effective and consistent 1v1 tackler in space, where his length and body control help him greatly. The 200 lber. is a nightmare of a blocking assignment for 9Man WRs and TEs, can undercut quick game around the flats and hook/curl in pass defense for INTs and PBUs, and shows some bend and ability to dip, drop his hips, and rip through would-be blockers as a blitzer. The Beaver Creek product has a couple reps of of the 6'4 athlete jumping in the air and completely overwhelming a QB in an attempt for a batted down PBU, but the QB pumps fakes, so Metzger lands, regains his bearings and momentum, and earns the sack. He also has another impressive rep of him playing 1v1 man coverage out of the slot, wherein the SB runs a short under route across the LOS and second level of the field - a route that is extremely difficult to cover for defenders - but Metzger closes on the kid in a blink and halts the completion for a very short gain. Your new Minnesota #1 is here to stay!

https://twitter.com/brodie_metzger/status/2054683057815171103

St. Francis has some explosive prospects set to return to their 2026 roster and namely in their 2028 class. One of these standouts is RB Owen Darsow, a sophomore playmaker platforming himself very well for a breakout, big-time junior season this fall. Darsow is fast, and I mean really fast, and he is stuffing his athletic resume with verified, green numbers and a ton of snaps left in his varsity career. Darsow has popped off an 11.23 100M and 23.45 200M this spring, blazing times for an underclassmen multi-sporter, and Darsow also added a 4.73 laser 40, 4.39 shuttle, 34.9" vert at 612Q's Offensive Skills Showcase this spring. He also has posted a 295 lb. bench (on video), 285 lb. power clean (on video), and 460 squat (on video) this offseason in the weight room.

Last fall, Darsow produced 86 rushes for 429 yards and 4 TDs for the Saints' varsity squad, and although he has limited tape out, it's quite eye-catching. Darsow owns impressive contact balance for his age and size, can cut at top speed, and noticeable burst, and he's an overall shifty ball carrier with light feet, good vision, and a ton of juice in the open field. Darsow showed off some dirty moves in the open field, and he made the most of his limited carries and displayed an electric and well-rounded skillset for an underclassman tailback at the large school level. Can't wait to see what he produces this fall.

https://twitter.com/Owen_Darsow/status/1964808339214471179

Meet your new Minnesota 2028 DB #1, folks! Hopkins High School's [player_tooltip player_id='1715731' first='Xavier' last='Bailey'] is a tremendous multi-sport talent for the Royals, whose 6A program is housing a wide variety of athletes in all shapes and sizes. Bailey, a back-to-back PRZMN Showcase standout performer who is loose, fluid, and twitchy in man coverage, has popped off some excellent track times this spring, namely a 11.14, 11.22, and 11.30 100M, as well as an 23.39 200M, backing up some strong showings in person and some eye-catching film from the 2025 season competing against 6A competition.

Bailey displays rangy coverage ability from the defensive secondary and is a productive MOF defender who is able to play 1v1 man coverage effectively out of the slot, something PRZMN has seen very often in-person at our last two showcases. Bailey is patient, loose-hipped, and light on his feet, and he rarely overcommits or gets out of position in man coverage. Bailey can also stick his cleat in the turf, get downhill, and close space on accelerating RBs for physical 1v1 tackles in the hole, as well as change direction, accelerate out of his cuts, and close on ball carriers in a blank. He runs the alley with force and physicality, naturally works to undercut longer passing attempts, and is a good clean up tackler from the third level of the defense. We also like his ball skills and the fact that he is comfortable and effective in 50/50 settings and contested catch situations. Keep an eye on the Royals this summer and fall!

https://twitter.com/bailey_xav16869/status/2054051425445933551

Kasson-Mantorville's football team had a heckuva 2025 campaign, going 11-2 and finishing as Minnesota's Class 4A state runner-up, losing by a lone touchdown to Orono in the state final. The Komets' success was significantly aided by underclassman and sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1653240' first='Keymoni' last='Bent'], a tremendous multi-sport talent in Minnesota's 2028 class. The football and track standout has popped off 11.38 100M and 22.96 200M PRs this spring for the Komets, and you can see that speed immediately in his sophomore highlights, where he opens his tape with an explosive kickoff return against a loaded 2025 Byron roster. The rep shows Bent leap over a couple tackles like a high-hurdler, barely breaking stride before getting hawked down by the backside pursuer for an 80ish-yard gain, and he also manufactured a 99-yard pick-six in the state playoffs for a beautiful display of athleticism and playmaking ability. Bent is also a patient, instinctive, ball-hawking DB from his cornerback spot, and he owns ankle-breaking quickness and COD ability in space with the ball in-hand. He's also comfortable under the deep ball and shows impressive and noticeable 50/50 and contested catch ability, game-breaking acceleration and the top-end speed to finish splash plays for six, and he closes quickly and sucks in space as a tackler and defensive back. Can't wait to get some looks at this kid this summer on the camp trail.

https://twitter.com/Keymonibent/status/2004791902588350519

If you haven't noticed, the Moorhead Spuds are stuffed to the brim with multi-sport talent right now. Amongst the four Minnesota Gophers commits on roster, plethora of remaining scholarship and roster spot talent, and multi-sport standouts comes [player_tooltip player_id='2070875' first='Shadrach' last='Zuo'], an absolute under-the-radar gem with some serious athleticism in his 6'1, 160 lb. frame. Unfortunately, Zuo doesn't have any football tape or stats from the 2025 season, but fellow scout [player_tooltip player_id='1292716' first='Nate' last='Wahl'] saw at Grind 701 Elite tryouts in December, where he earned a nod as a standout performer. He's also had a handful of mentions and features in various PrepHoops articles over the past couple years as a talented hooper, but his work on the track may be best of the bunch. A legitimate track & field prospect projecting into the college ranks, Zuo has posted a 11.22 100M, 22.66 200M, 22'11 long jump, and 6'4 high jump in 2026 outdoor season, so it's safe to say he's positioning himself for a breakout junior campaign with the Spuds' football team if he can work his way onto the gridiron. A standout triple-option RB with the Cougars' varsity last fall, Ekah posted 66 rushes for 549 yards (8.3 YPC) and 4 TDs, and in electric fashion I may add. He's also been going off on the track this outdoor season, PRing with 21'4" long jump and an 11.62 100M, but reports some 11.4 times in practice with the Cougars' varsity. Ekah was also potentially the best 7v7 player I saw in Minnesota this offseason, having a very good year with Next Level Athletes out of Blaine, and he was so good as a safety in fact that I'm not quite sure where he best projects to just yet into the college level.

Ekah displays a ton of power, physicality, and contact balance in his game, particularly in the open field, as well as burst & vision, and he was producing against one of the tougher schedules MN Big School football has to offer. The sophomore broke and ran around some very athletic 6A LBs and SAFs in 2025, and he's comfortable, intentional, experienced in the open field, with a deep bag of tools to break tackles and power written all over his game. Ekah tracks the ball well in the air and is an asset as a pass catcher out of the backfield and when split out to the slot, and he displays some impressive displays of body control and fearlessness when spinning, stepping, and working through tackle attempts in the open field. The 190 lber. also flashes some twitch as well.

https://twitter.com/edwinekah1/status/2049965491414778073

A recently-discovered 2028 on breakout watch, Park Center's Andre Nelson showed up and showed out at the recent PRZMN Spring Showcase. Nelson put together a strong performance during both testing and 1v1s, and after he measured in at 5'8, 151 lbs. with 9" hands, he clocked a 4.70 laser 40, 4.38 shuttle, and 8'6 broad. Afterwards, Nelson was shifty, sudden, and productive in 1v1s against quality defensive back competition, and he's sweetened the pot and put a bigger spotlight on his potential breakout watch after some of the track times he's posted this spring.

Nelson has clocked PRs of an 11.48 100M, 23.82 200M this outdoor track and field season with Park Center, building on what has been a strong sophomore 7v7 season with MN Grind 7v7, and it's an easy bet to put Nelson on breakout watch as he inches closer and closer to his junior season with the Pirates in 2026. Fresh off a strong performance at the PRZMN Spring Showcase, where he measured in at 5'7, 174 lbs. and popped off a 4.86 laser 40, 4.61 shuttle, and 8' broad jump, Aluko has been putting up some strong numbers as a sprinter on the track this current outdoor T&F season. Aluko has PRed with an 11.55 100M and 24.05 200M, adding to his growing resume that includes varsity stats of 39 rushes for 207 yards and 1 TD, finishing as the second-leading rusher on Park's roster last fall, according to MNFootballHub.

On tape, Aluko shows off twitchy footwork and COD ability and can make that free defender with consistency. An integral part of Rosemount's turnaround 8-2 season in 2025 competing in the heavyweight 6A ranks of Minnesota high school football, Macken has kept the good times going into the 2026 outdoor track and field season. The near 200-pounder has PRed with an 11.55 100M and impressive 51.41 400M sprint, and even before he was tearing things up on the track, big-time college programs have taken notice. People always say "kids shouldn't specialize" and "kids should play multiple sports." However, it's always good to see examples of this in real time, and we have a good one here, as [player_tooltip player_id='1654570' first='Isaac' last='Chisholm']'s track and field metrics this spring forced PRZMN to pay attention, peep the film, evaluate, and kid this kid on a feature as soon as possible. This is a small example, and serious scholarship money is the pinnacle of these positive outcomes, which Chisholm is inching towards as both a football and track & field recruit.

The reported 6', 180 lber. has posted official PRs of an 11.27 100M, 23.73 200M, and 35'9" shot put at 200 pounds this spring, and also added a 11.41 100M PR as a freshman in 2025 outdoor season. He also has reported a 215 lb. bench, 315 lb. squat, and 245 lb. power clean in the weight room and is a varsity hooper for Osakis' basketball team. On offense, he's a patient runner who accelerates from a dead stop with dangerous explosiveness, and he has the top-end speed to finish splash plays for six and outpace those final pursuit angles from backside defensive backs. He displays light, nimble footwork, a strong lower body, and good overall contact balance that make for a fun combination on tape. Chisholm does a good job of not letting defenders square him up and get a clean shot on him, and the acceleration after a broken tackle is very dangerous for defenses to handle and corral. He's also a deep threat out of the backfield with vertical speed and deep ball tracking ability.

Defensively, Chisholm sneaks into passing lanes around the flats for game-changing INTs and PBUs and demonstrates splash-play ability and speed as a blitzer. He's a good tackler in space who closes and sucks in space with pace, and is an instinctive and disruptive player from his OLB spot who can read, react, and make plays on the ball all over the field. Get this kid some college attention ASAP.

Hit him on X: @ChisholmI2529

An undisputed top-tier 2028 prospect and defensive back out of Cambridge-Isanti High School, [player_tooltip player_id='607918' first='Knox' last='Andrus'] is fresh off a tremendous showing at this spring's PRZMN Showcase. Measuring in at 5'10, 183 lbs. with a 71" wing and 9.25" hands, Andrus clocked an eye-popping 4.61 laser-verified 40 as a sophomore, with a 4.32 shuttle and 9'7" broad (we've measured him over 10' in the broad multiple times), according to Universal Speed's testing data and equipment. A prolific 7v7 player with a ton of varsity experience under his belt, Andrus is popping off in exciting fashion this outdoor track & field season, putting together a very impressive combination of PRs in the 100M and the long jump, in which he's gone 11.30 and 20'4", respectively. Andrus has also added an 23.21 200M PR and 33' shot put in the 2025 outdoor track & field season as a freshman. Talk about green verified athletic data!

As a sophomore, Andrus totaled 0 TDs allowed in 2025 as a CB, 33 carries for 496 yards and 6 TDs at a 15 YPC clip, and 21 tackles, 3 TFLs, 5 PBUs, 1 INT, and 1 FF. On tape, he displays explosive, game-breaking speed as a tailback and ball carrier. If he gets to the edge and out to the sideline it's game over for a defense, and he is also twitchy in the open field and put some defenders on skates in 2025. Andrus is more than able to finish splash plays for six once he hits the open field and finds daylight and also flashes impressive ball-tracking ability and ball skills from the RB spot. Plus, he's a ertical threat out of the backfield with 50/50 ability to boot.

Defensively, to show off his speed, Andrus has some eye-catching defensive reps chasing down loose ball carriers far downfield and in impressive fashion, and he owns noticeable range and closing speed from his CB spot in run support. The 180 lber. is a physical and effective 1v1 tackler out on the edge as well. In coverage, Andrus displays good footwork, loose hips, and impressive short-area quickness and body control as he works to mirror and stay in-phase with WRs throughout their route's development, and he's very comfortable under the deep ball and shows impressive ball skills, sometimes running the route for the receiver. Plus, he flies out of his breaks with pace and physicality to and at the catch point. Keep an eye out for this young and developing Bluejacket on the 2026 Summer Camp Circuit!

https://twitter.com/KnoxAndrus/status/2052211027643662684

--
