We are knocking on the door of the camp season. A few teams begin the process in the coming days as May winds down, and it is looking like I will be on the road to take in an event or two this weekend. As I gear up for the summer grind there are several athletes who I hope to cross paths with to get a fresh, live look at. Some for the first time, and some for the first time in a year or so. Today I want to talk about just a few of the 2027s that I am hoping to cross paths with this summer. Coaches, these are going to be athletes you will want to cross paths with too. Let's dive in!

I have not been lucky enough to see Joel perform in person in his career, yet. I'm hoping this summer that comes to an end. The big man out of Greendale has earned an offer from Upper Iowa already this offseason and has Junior Day invites from essentially every D2 in the surrounding states. On tape Joel appears to be a very long athlete that carries his 280 lbs extremely well on what looks like a clean frame that can hold even more size. The Greendale RT has a strong set of hands too that clamp and control his man very early in the play and from there the big man just has to move his feet and either flex his anchor in pass pro or show off how he can move DL in the run game. I hope to catch up with Joel at a padded big man camp or Mega Camp somewhere in WI.

The last time I was able to see Max in person was during his strong showing at the Whitewater Mega Camp last summer. Since then we have seen Max go on to earn offers from Drake, Winona State, and Sioux Falls. With camp season just about to start I have a feeling that strong initial wave is just the start for the impressive 6'5" 270 lbs 2027 OL. To put it simply, the starting left guard for Appleton North is an absolute bully in the trenches. His size, range, and the momentum he is able to create with that pairing has produced a highlight reel loaded with examples of his next level power. Max has a very effective blend of athleticism and power that gives him such an advantage in the trenches and should set him up for a fantastic summer of camps. I think Max is on the verge of a huge summer and I hope I get to see it unfold live.

I don't believe I have gotten to watch Ely work in person to this point in his career. However, if it is up to me that will change this summer. A big reason is because I believe the WR out of New Holstein has the athletic traits to be one of the top testers at any camp he attends. The '27 WR has reported a 4.5 40, 35" vertical, and is coming off an All Region WR junior season. The kid also never leaves the field with roles at WR, DB, and multiple special teams spots. On tape I love how he attacks every level of the field. His size and speed give him the advantage deep, but then he can also surprise you with how he can make you miss after the catch in the quick passing game. Don't miss out on the mismatch.

Looking at Max's camp schedule it looks like I will get my wish and be at the Lake Show in Oshkosh on June 7th with him. The last time I saw Max he was putting together one of the best performances at the winter PRZ WI Showcase. Since then Max has seen a ton of attention from the next level including visits to the FCS and D2 levels and an offer from Bemidji State. I can't wait to see how he has grown and improved in the six months since I've seen him. The 6'1" 175 lbs athlete proved on tape that he can win vertically, does really well at finding ways to come down with the ball, and he is tough as nails. This is going to be a big summer for the WR if he can put up similar numbers to what he did back in December. Coaches I recommend getting your eyes on this WR if you will be at the same Mega Camps as him.

Another athlete who I haven't seen since the 2025 Whitewater Mega Camp is [player_tooltip player_id='1620367' first='Quintin' last='Arizola']. Since then we saw Quintin go on to lead one of the best passing attacks in WI in 2025 and earn offers from Whitewater and River Falls. Even going back to that 2025 camp it was impressive how technically sound the QB was. Then to see him go on to complete 65% of his passes in 2025 it is easy to follow that upward trend of development and get excited about this summer. I'm hoping to get a chance to see him live again, and a lot of college coaches should be trying to get him on campus this summer.

Colton is another athlete who I haven't seen in person, yet. I hope to change that because the tools and production are enticing. The next level seems to think so too as he has invites to get on campus from the FCS-D3 levels this spring. He also has an elite frame at 6'6" 215 lbs that perfectly fits the edge where he was able to make 8.5 sacks in 2025. Colton's tape shows a kid that can use that length to get into the backfield, a very high motor, and a solid first step. Traits that will stand out on the camp circuit as well. I hope to watch this kid work live over the coming month.
