Prep Redzone's Shayne Pickering and I continued our 2026 Spring Tour, visiting various programs across the state to conduct interviews and see talented players.

The second visit in the series was at Riverdale High School, where we got a close-up look at an elite in-state program led by veteran head coach Will Kriesky.

After being able to see a plethora of prospects, I'll be discussing five of the top players on this squad. We have a good mix of both sides, with three being on offense and the other two playing on defense.

2028 QB [player_tooltip player_id='1287058' first='Gavin' last='Hampton']

[player_tooltip player_id='1287058' first='Gavin' last='Hampton'] transferred from Ravenwood last season and was fantastic, being one of the best quarterbacks in Tennessee, regardless of class. As a first-year starter, he completed 61% of his passes for 2,677 yards and 32 touchdowns while earning Region 3-6A Offensive MVP honors.

He offers good size for the position, standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 210 pounds, with an athletic frame that allows him to move around while providing the size to take hits and be physical. The rising junior has some of the best arm talent in the state and shows it consistently, making just about every throw on the field. His mechanics were already good, but he cleaned up some things and looks even better than last season.

The 2028 prospect has a high football IQ, reads the field well and makes good decisions. His arm strength and velocity are impressive, among the best in his class, which helps him throw the deep ball effectively and fit passes into tight windows. He's the No. 17 signal caller nationally by Rivals, but has the potential to climb towards the top 10 with another good season in 2026.

2029 WR [player_tooltip player_id='1538130' first='Luke' last='Tritch']

[player_tooltip player_id='1538130' first='Luke' last='Tritch'] would be the undisputed No. 1 wide receiver in Tennessee for his class if [player_tooltip player_id='1537396' first='Maddox' last='Porter'] didn't exist. Still, the Riverdale playmaker is one of the elite in-state players with a high ceiling and proven production in arguably the toughest classification in the state. As a freshman last season, he caught 48 passes for 714 yards and seven touchdowns.

Tritch is well-built for his age, standing 5-foot-11 and weighing 180 pounds, with a strong frame that he's continuing to work on. The 2029 prospect has put on a good amount of muscle while maintaining his movement. He's highly shifty with excellent footwork and technique, allowing him to always be open like Waffle House.

Tritch has terrific hands and catches everything thrown his way, no matter the circumstances or how difficult it may be. He can line up all over and do damage, whether that's over the middle of the field, on a deep route, screens, etc. The rising sophomore is a determined player with top-tier competitiveness. Even as a freshman, he was extremely fiery, in a good way.

He holds 10 offers from Division I programs, but could be a breakout recruiting candidate in 2026.

Photo: Riverdale DB [player_tooltip player_id='378857' first='Hudson' last='Fuqua'] at a Prep Redzone camp.

2027 DB [player_tooltip player_id='378857' first='Hudson' last='Fuqua']

[player_tooltip player_id='378857' first='Hudson' last='Fuqua'] is an exciting prospect who's committed to Mississippi State and has drawn significant interest from other quality programs. Prep Redzone has him as a top defensive back in Tennessee, but it feels like many people still don't realize how good this kid is. He led his team last season in tackles with 73, while intercepting three passes and deflecting another nine.

He's a well-built safety, standing 6-foot and weighing 180 pounds with a strong, thick frame. While Fuqua has packed on good weight, he did not sacrifice movement and his quickness, as the 2027 prospect is a fluid mover who gets from sideline-to-sideline quickly.

The rising senior is a good tackler who can play up in the box or as a deep safety. He's also a solid coverage DB with good instincts and the ability to force turnovers.

2027 WR [player_tooltip player_id='1103038' first='Brylan' last='Oduor']

[player_tooltip player_id='1103038' first='Brylan' last='Oduor'] played the past three seasons at Blackman, but will be at Riverdale for his senior year. While the production at his last school may not tell you so, this is one of the premier players in Tennessee. He's a blue-chip prospect and the No. 2 receiver in 2027 per Prep Redzone. Everyone who knows ball was ecstatic about his move, as the Warriors have a top two offensive scheme in Tennessee.

He offers great size, standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 205 pounds, with a strong frame that allows him to maintain his mobility while being a threat at every level. Oduor has the size, strength and jump-ball ability to be a weapon on contested passes and down the field. However, he's a highly athletic and fluid player who will hurt you over the middle and after the catch.

He is extremely elusive and can create at a moment's notice. The rising senior holds offers from Indiana, Ole Miss, Georgia, Miami (FL) and others, but has the potential to break out and shoot up the recruiting rankings as a high four-star.

2027 DL [player_tooltip player_id='1648682' first='James' last='Stewart']

Riverdale's [player_tooltip player_id='1648682' first='James' last='Stewart'] took that next step last season with Blackman, where he established himself as arguably the top interior lineman in Tennessee. He was highly productive, recording 68 tackles, 13 for a loss, two sacks and two forced fumbles, which earned him Region 3-6A Defensive Lineman of the Year honors.

Stewart does a great job of shutting down the run from his defensive tackle spot and is willing to take on multiple blockers to free up one of his teammates. The 2027 recruit is a true anchor on the defensive front, keeping just about everyone from working up the middle.

While he's an interior guy, don't sleep on his pass-rush ability. Stewart is effective at pressuring the quarterback due to his twitch, great jump off the ball and impressive rush moves. The rising senior is an elite run-stuffer but offers nice upside as a rusher, making him the complete package.
