Scouting the Leading 2027 Passers

We're deep into offseason mode, with plenty of pieces about <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/04/top-5-impact-transfers-quarterback/">transfers</a>, <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/04/sneak-peek-early-prep-redzone-exposure-camp-primer/">offseason camps</a>, and even the future of the <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/04/32-future-nfl-draft-picks-from-north-carolina/">NFL Draft</a>. What we haven't done this offseason, though, is look at the top returning statistical leaders. Here at Prep Redzone, we're about more than reading leaderboards, so in this piece, we're scouting the top five returners in terms of passing yardage. Where do they win, and what do they bring to the table?   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Which 2027 Quarterbacks Led the State in Passing?</h2>    After throwing for a junior-best 3,233 yards, Ishman returns to Northeastern looking for a repeat of his 2025 success. Ishman is somehow going under the radar on the recruiting trail, despite having excellent size, mobility, and arm talent. He seems to be a victim of both geography and a slower quarterback market, because there's very little he can't do on a football field. His natural feel in the pocket and ability to layer throws are excellent, rising well above the thresholds we tend to use when evaluating future college quarterbacks.     Alford is one of the top quarterbacks in the 2A classification, but he's also a two-way athlete. He played linebacker for North Rowan, too, a testament to his athleticism and ability on the football field. The lefty is a confident passer who layers throws to all fields. I'm really impressed by his quick trigger and his diversity of throws. On his tape, you'll see him hitting throws off bootlegs, play-action, and straight dropbacks to all fields. That overall quarterbacking ability, coupled with his athleticism as a defender, makes him an intriguing college prospect.     Unlike a lot of these other guys, Lynch was as dangerous on the ground as he was as a passer, running for over 1,000 yards in addition to his 2,700-yard passing season. He's a confident decision-maker who maximizes yards after the catch by being on time with his reads and accurate with his passes. Lincolnton returns the majority of its offensive production at the skill positions, and I wouldn't be surprised if Lynch actually beat last year's passing mark.     Perry threw for at least 200 yards in every game last season, navigating a difficult conference slate to put up great numbers. He's at his best on the run, and though he has the ability to scramble, his best work is when he keeps his eyes downfield and delivers with accuracy from outside the pocket. He's a true dual threat with nearly 500 rushing yards as a junior, and he's accurate, even under pressure. He's a guy who should continue to develop patience in the pocket, and as he grows that part of his game, he should be able to become even more consistent.     The most polished quarterback on this list is also the guy with the least varsity experience. Sevilla is a true Division 1 prospect in our eyes. His poise and patience in the pocket are impressive, and he's a quick decision-maker. He delivers on time and with accuracy, and though he's a passer first, he has some athleticism to punish defenses on both scrambles and designed runs.
