Over the years there have been numerous athletes overlooked in the Northwest because they are playing small school ball. Here we take a look at the top athletes in Oregon returning next season from the 4A level on down.

You will see some of the top prospects in the state listed here with D1 offers and others who have stocks that are rising and could make a nice jump up the PRZ Rankings board when updated..

OFFENSE

4A Cascade left no doubt going (13-0) and winning the state title game by 52 points over Henley. On top of that, they return two of the state's top recruits regardless of classification in [player_tooltip player_id='935357' first='Josiah' last='Hawkins'] and 6-4 205-pound [player_tooltip player_id='1119870' first='Jamison' last='Walsh']. The very versatile Hawkins earned 1st team all-state honors on both sides of the ball, with Walsh garnering 1st team all-state accolades at TE and 2nd team honors at DE. He is also one of the top long snappers in the West.

Marist has traditionally been one of the better 4A programs in the state but went (4-6) last year. They will rely heavily on 2x 1st team all-league RB [player_tooltip player_id='1550141' first='Conner' last='Harvey'] who has 36 career TDs. Stayton was a top 10 team led by RB [player_tooltip player_id='1990102' first='Wyatt' last='Kerrigan'] who was a 3rd team all-state selection.

[player_tooltip player_id='936972' first='Elijah' last='Greenan Biggs'] of Scappoose put up maybe the best numbers at the 4A level among underclassmen, going for 1,276 all-purpose yards and 24 TDs. He was a 1st team all-state pick with the Indians going (10-2).

At the receiver spot 6-5 [player_tooltip player_id='1609764' first='Sam' last='Robbins'] of Valley Catholic has maybe the highest ceiling of any player in 4A, catching 33 passes for 588 yards and 9 TDs. We've recently talked on [player_tooltip player_id='1358906' first='Sterling' last='Holland'], who is one of the best overall athletes in Oregon. The three-sport standout went for 881 all-purpose and 10 touchdowns as a junior.

Last but definitely not least at the skill positions, 5-6 165-pound scat back [player_tooltip player_id='1119903' first='Bryson' last='Walker'], who continues to kill it for 3A state champ Cascade Christian, going for 3300+ yards and 45 TDs over the last two seasons. Just to put into perspective the team's dominance last year, the Challengers beat opponents by a combined score of 647-47 before beating Burns 35-28 in the title game. Walker was a 1st team all-state selection on both sides of the football and the conference Defensive POY.

Up front on the line there are a trio of big boys representing the smaller schools with [player_tooltip player_id='2161078' first='Cade' last='Wilson'] of Banks leading the way. The 6-4 295-pound two-way threat projects offensively just receiving his first D1 offer from Eastern Washington. He has the potential of being a major division 1 recruit.

6-5 265-pound [player_tooltip player_id='1787921' first='Skylar' last='Folau'] of Marshfield is a guy most don't know about yet. Look for him to continue and fly up the rankings board potentially being more of a DE, while making 50+ tackles with 5.5 TFL's and 2 sacks last year. [player_tooltip player_id='2106057' first='Blake' last='Patereau'] of 3A state champ Cascade Christian is another lineman we've talked about in the past, earning 2nd team all-state honors at tackle. He has a high 80's fastball and can also hit from a baseball standpoint.

Two other undersized lineman who did well for themselves include [player_tooltip player_id='2161079' first='Sabby' last='Hlavinka'] of 4A state champ Cascade and 6-0 215-pound [player_tooltip player_id='2161082' first='Arthur' last='Duryea'] of Astoria at Center who was a 3rd team all-state selection.

QB [player_tooltip player_id='2161075' first='Will' last='Kessi'] 27' Scappoose

QB [player_tooltip player_id='1161283' first='Madden' last='Hughes'] 28' Stayton

RB [player_tooltip player_id='936972' first='Elijah' last='Greenan Biggs'] 27' Scappoose

RB [player_tooltip player_id='1550141' first='Conner' last='Harvey'] 27' Marist

RB [player_tooltip player_id='1990102' first='Wyatt' last='Kerrigan'] 27' Stayton

RB [player_tooltip player_id='2161077' first='Alakae' last='Rodriguez'] 27' Heppner

WR [player_tooltip player_id='1358906' first='Sterling' last='Holland'] 27' Crescent Valley

WR [player_tooltip player_id='1609764' first='Sam' last='Robbins'] 28' Valley Catholic

WR [player_tooltip player_id='2106056' first='Gabe' last='Dietmeyer'] 28' Marist

ATH [player_tooltip player_id='935357' first='Josiah' last='Hawkins'] 27' Cascade

ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1119903' first='Bryson' last='Walker'] 27' Cascade Christian

ATH Chase Herrera 27' Harrisburg

UTIL [player_tooltip player_id='1241786' first='Thomas' last='Classen'] 27' Estacada

TE [player_tooltip player_id='1119870' first='Jamison' last='Walsh'] 27' Cascade

OL [player_tooltip player_id='2161078' first='Cade' last='Wilson'] 27' Banks

OL [player_tooltip player_id='2161079' first='Sabby' last='Hlavinka'] 27' Cascade

OL [player_tooltip player_id='2106057' first='Blake' last='Patereau'] 27' Cascade Christian

OL [player_tooltip player_id='1787921' first='Skylar' last='Folau'] 27' Marshfield

OL [player_tooltip player_id='2161080' first='Shaun' last='Washburn'] 27' Scappoose

OL [player_tooltip player_id='2161082' first='Arthur' last='Duryea'] 27' Astoria
