The Prep Redzone 7v7 Circuit made a stop in Nebraska this weekend for the second annual Great Plains Gauntlet. We had teams all over the region (and Canada!) competing in La Vista, Nebraska and the competition was outstanding from start to finish. In this breakdown, we're taking a look at the 10U division. Five players stood out throughout the games on Saturday and Sunday. And there's a few familiar names from previous PRZ tournaments! Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone for more content to come out from this tourney!
Braxton Richardson - Quarterback - Strongside KC
Strongside KC is a program i've gotten very familiar with over the last month. We've seen them three times now in the last five weekends at various PRZ tournaments and each time they impress. Quarterback Braxton Richardson is a player that has stood out to us in tournaments in the past and he did it again this weekend. Richardson helped guide this offense up and down the field and was a big reason why they won the 10U championship on Sunday. It's fun to watch his continued improvement.
Eric Waters - Linebacker - SF Sharks
Sometimes it's hard to stand out on the defensive side of the ball in 7v7 tournaments. The offense is usually at the advantage but that wasn't the case with Eric Waters and the SF Sharks this weekend. The South Dakota squad made a run to the championship game and Waters really impressed us with his performance on defense. He had the game-clinching interception in their second pool play game on Saturday and was just a play stopper in the middle of the field for their defensive unit.
Grayson Kaempfe - Wide Receiver/Defensive Back - Strongside KC
Strongside KC outlasted SF Sharks in the 10U championship game and if we gave out an MVP award, it would have to go to Grayson Kaempfe for his performance in the championship game. He made big catches on the offensive side of the ball at wide receiver but that wasn't all. He also made big plays on defense, including an interception that all but iced the title game. He performed incredibly well during pool play on Saturday as well and then backed that up with an even better performance on Sunday.
Junior Solo - Athlete - SF Sharks
There were some really good playmakers in the 10U division but Junior Solo might have been the most electric playmaker of the bunch. He was so fast and shifty in the open field that he ate up yards after the catch. He was simply running away from defender after defender. He had a really good start to the tournament on Saturday and just continued to make multiple plays on the offensive side of the ball. If Solo got the ball with some momentum and some green grass in front of him, he wasn't getting caught.
Mack Mulsoff - Linebacker - Strongside KC
Mack Mulsoff was one of our favorite players to watch this weekend. This guy brought the juice every time we watched this team in action. He was the vocal leader of the defense and it didn't matter if it was an 8AM game, he brought the energy and was letting his teammates know what defense they were running. Like other players within this program, we've seen Mulsoff before but we were very impressed with the energy and intensity that he played the game with this weekend in Nebraska.
