Which 2028 Defenders Climbed up Our Ranks?

In our new 2028 Rankings Update, we are highlighting some talented new Stock Risers on defense to begin our offseason coverage.   We saw this group of prospects have impressive sophomore seasons for their teams this past fall, so we're looking at their tape and discussing where they're ranked now.   As always, be sure to check out these prospects' film. You won't want to miss out on this kind of talent here in Alabama.    [player_tooltip player_id='1637352' first='Kris' last='Frazier'] is a talented EDGE/TE from Vigor who's risen to become our #4 EDGE and #24 overall prospect in the class.   "At EDGE, Frazier is an impressive run defender who can consistently win and create stops at the line of scrimmage. He does a great job setting the edge and has the speed and power to overwhelm offensive linemen and create plays in the backfield.   At TE, Frazier is an incredibly reliable blocker in the run game and in pass protection. He's quick off the snap and uses his size, strength, and leverage to consistently win at the line of scrimmage, consistently providing wide rushing lanes and plenty of time in the pocket for his teammates to work with."   Frazier's stock has been soaring over the last few months. He had a terrific season last fall that's helped him pick up attention from several top-tier programs at the next level. Be sure to watch some of his tape below, you'll be impressed:      [player_tooltip player_id='1621018' first='Jahyden' last='White'] is a talented DL from Florence who's now ranked as our #5 DL and #32 overall prospect in the class.   "White is a dominant force on the interior that can make your offense one-dimensional. He's terrific at defending the run, using his size, strength, and power to put OL on their heels, close down rushing lanes, and take down the ball carrier by the line of scrimmage.   I'm really impressed with White's motor. He plays with phenomenal effort and pursuit, sometimes working through multiple blockers and across the field to create stops. I'm really excited to see what's in store for White; he's been dominant through the first half of the season."   White had a breakout season last fall that's seen him pick up a bunch of recent attention in the recruiting world. We all need to be on the lookout for him this coming year. I think he has a big junior season ahead of him for Florence.      [player_tooltip player_id='1595856' first='Dwight' last='Beckford'] is a lockdown DB from Spain Park that we now have ranked as our #4 DB and #33 overall player in the class.   "Beckford is an instinctual DB who thrives at locating and making plays on the ball- he consistently flies around the field to come up with huge stops against the run and pass nearly every down. I'm really impressed with Beckford's skills in coverage- he plays with tons of patience, doesn't let anyone behind him downfield, and can break on the ball and come up with some huge PBUs/INTs.   Beckford was also really productive against the run last season. He really showed off his speed and pursuit skills by flying downhill to come up with tackles near the line of scrimmage, and way upfield from where he initially lined up to prevent TD scoring plays."   I had high expectations for Beckford heading into last season, and man, did he impress. He was terrific all year long and put together some really impressive tape throughout the process. Be sure to check out some of his clips below:      [player_tooltip player_id='1654957' first='Zavier' last='Burrow'] is a talented DB from Mortimer Jordan who's landed as our #5 DB and #48 overall prospect in the class.   “Burrow already has some great skills out in coverage- he's quick on his feet, is terrific at tracking opposing quarterbacks' eyes/the ball, and frequently uses his hands to either break up passes or haul in interceptions all over the field.   Burrow is also great at supporting the run. He's quick to get downhill, is terrific in pursuit, and has the tackling skills to not allow for any extra yards after he makes initial contact.“   Burrow followed up his freshman season with an even more impressive year last fall. He's a talented DB who's only gotten better since I first watched him last spring. We all need to look out for him this upcoming season.      [player_tooltip player_id='1656763' first='Desmond' last='Thomas'] is a talented DL/OL recruit who's coming in as our #6 DL and #51 overall prospect in the class.   "[player_tooltip player_id='1656763' first='Desmond' last='Thomas'] already has some traits you just can't teach- it's hard to believe he's a freshman, standing at 6'4 274, he has the size and athleticism to already compete with upperclassmen down in the trenches.   Thomas is quick off the snap, incredibly strong, and consistently wins matchups at the line of scrimmage. I'm seriously impressed with how well he defends the run- he can fly through blockers and get to the ball carrier within an instant, consistently coming up with huge stops at or behind the line of scrimmage.   Thomas has some serious talents as a pass rusher- he generates great pressure, can force the quarterback into bad decisions, and has the hand-eye coordination to bat down passes at the LOS   This past season, Thomas also started playing OT and made a big impact there as well. He's a talented run blocker who uses his size, mobility, and power to dish out huge blocks on the run, paving the way for consistent gains on the ground."
