PRZCJ’s Notebook: 5 New Names With D1 Status

Everything about this kid just screams tackle. Plenty equipped size-wise at 6'5 275, and his skinny ankles indicate he isn't done growing, and a natural athlete. A little rough around the edges, but there is a lot to like on tape. He battles at the point of attack, firing his feet to displace defenders and drive. That foot speed and length should only benefit his development in pass pro, or at least indicate that part of his game will continue to blossom. He is a smaller-framed QB prospect, but I love the way he operates and think he is a capable enough athlete to play at the D1 level. Quick, smooth passing mechanics. The ball jumps off his hand, and he can play with touch down the field. He is a slick athlete who can get out on the move and make plays in space, but I love how he uses his traits to skate around the pocket and find himself a clean platform to throw off of. He plays both ways, but will project as an RB sitting at 5'10 210. He is a true size/speed threat for the position. Wouldn't consider him an HR speed threat, but his explosiveness in the short areas is elite for his size. Not to mention, his patience and foot speed allow him to dance around contact at the LOS. I would be nitpicking to find much wrong. You could arguably his size, but he isn't even small, and he perfectly makes up for it. He is patient, diagnosing well before engaging. When he engages, he flashes. This kid is explosive and does it on a muscled-up, cut frame. He greets ball carriers and blockers with some pop in his pads and has the combination of speed and motor to pursue the ball all over the yard. He plays DB, and I actually think he can stick there, despite being technically undersized at 5'9. For starters, he is long, so the height doesn't really factor in that much. Along with the obvious speed traits, he comes downhill with violence and looks to separate the ball from the ball carrier on every hit. He has the traits, and he has the mean streak.
