Day 1 of the PRZ West Virginia Country Roads Rumble was jam-packed with great teams and players from several states (and Canada!). Over 40 teams gathered at Mylan Park to duke it out for the Country Roads Rumble championship and an invite to the national tournament in Georgia.

West Virginia's #1 2028 prospect, [player_tooltip player_id='923337' first='Maddox' last='Twigg'], showed us why he is already garnering P4 attention with a dynamic two-way performance. I had already gotten a glimpse of Maddox's arm talent in person at our Stock Up showcase, but I was very impressed with his play on defense today. From what I saw, Maddox had two big interceptions where he displayed high IQ, quick instincts, and the ball skills to secure the pick. He moves very well in space and has the range to cover large chunks of ground. Offensively, Maddox had some next-level throws where he flashed elite placement and the arm strength to send the ball deep.

Dominant showing for 6ixside wide receiver Owen Saunders, who was nearly impossible to contain today. Owen is a bigger-bodied receiver who was really able to use his strength to outmuscle DBs, both at the line of scrimmage and at the catch point. His size and length allow him to quickly shrug off pressing DBs. Saunders tracks the ball very well and does an excellent job high-pointing the ball, even when doing so in traffic or with defenders draped on him. Good route runner who is sharp at the breakoff point and can create separation.

Magnet hands! Urban Impact's Damarr Williams was one of the more impressive "hands" receivers at the tournament today and even had what I consider the catch of the day as he fully extended for a spectacular one-handed snag. Throughout the day, it seemed that if you were able to get the ball in Damarr's vicinity, he was going to find a way to come down with it. He is explosive getting off the ball and showed that he can threaten defenses vertically. He knows how to exploit his opponent's leverage and can identify weaknesses in coverage to find soft spots to sink into.

Another standout from Canada's 6ixside 7v7 squad, 2028 DB Xavier Wilson. Xavier is a player who looked the part immediately with a strong, lengthy frame that fits the mold for next-level DBs. The biggest aspect of Xavier's game that stood out was his physicality and gritty edge he brought to the field. He didn't hesitate to press receivers at the line of scrimmage and will challenge them at the catch point as well. He shows the instincts to play through the receiver's hands, forcing incompletions. Fluid hips and shifty feet help him move and change direction on a dime while in coverage.

Slime City's Amear Miller was really impressive today as he reeled in several catches that either resulted in a score or put his team in position to score. He is a very physical and strong receiver who can make quick work of DBs attempting to jam him at the line. Amear possesses top-tier concentration and great hands, allowing him to complete the catch process through contact. Miller seemed to be Slime City's go-to "go-ball" receiver since he is very effective at boxing out DBs at the catch point and has underrated speed to get past defenders.
