Get 30% off your first billing cycle with code: howe30 in the coupon code area

We made it. During the last few months, Prep Redzone Iowa has updated its 2026-2028 Class rankings and released its initial 2029 Watch List.

More updates will be arriving in the spring as we dig into more film. So, if you haven't yet put together highlights from the 2025 season, there's time to post them before we reevaluate. It will run out quickly, however.

Here's a look at new batch of guys to have on your radar:

Jobgen impacted ballgames on both sides of the ball as an Assumption junior in 2025. He threw for 528 yards and four touchdowns, and rushed for 737 yards (7.7 YPC) and 11 scores. On defense, 15 of his 16.0 total tackles were of the solo variety. He intercepted a pair of passes and was credited with defending another one. His 11th-grade highlight video provides evidence as to how he got the job done and the versatility that makes him an attractive prospect for the next level. Jobgen can be best described as a football player. He delivers wherever he lines up because of athleticism, speed and physicality. Some colleges might prefer those skills on offense, but there's a path to him being a very productive safety as well.

Production was not an issue for Wainwright as a West Liberty junior in 2025. He piled up 72.0 tackles, 55 of which were solo stops. Wainwright racked up 3.5 tackles for loss, forced a pair of fumbles and intercepted a pass. He caught two passes for 13 yards, including a TD, and even returned a couple of kicks. His 11th-grade highlight video reveals a middle linebacker that leads with physicality. Wainwright runs well, which allows him to flow quickly to the football in stopping the run and stick with receivers in coverage. His long arms also aid him in making tackles. His frame still has plenty of room to fill out without the loss of speed or agility.

At 6-4, 270 pounds, Welch isn't a guy you'll miss getting off the bus or when he's lining up across from you. He flashed potential on defense with four of his 4.5 tackles being solo stops last fall. Agility and quickness provide the flexibility to come off the edge or power up the middle. Those traits also serve him well on the offensive line, where he did his best work in 2025. We don't have a ton of film to go on when we search Welch's Hudl page. There are a few clips from a couple of games. It's enough footage for us to be intrigued by his skills at O-Tackle. Welch moves his feet well and is strong after setting up in pass protection. He bends well and is active with his hands. Welch reaches blocks smoothly and plays through the whistle.

When you're joined in a tight end room by a guy a year older heading to Texas A&M, there's a good chance of being overshadowed. That was the case for Smith playing for Waukee as a junior in 2025. He made the most of his opportunities in the receiving game, hauling in a trio of passes for 67 yards and two touchdowns. Smith even contributed a solo tackle. He lists outside linebacker as his second position. Potential is prominent when viewing Smith's junior highlight video. The first clip has him shifting left out of an H-Back spot, smoothly getting into a route, catching the ball, racing to the goal line and barreling over defenders into the end zone. It contained everything you'd like to see at tight end from a receiving standpoint. The second clip features his blocking, which already is effective and has a chance to tick up even more as his frame fills out.

Prairie is a program that's consistently produced quality prospects for the next level. It's especially deep with them at the moment. That can lead to talented prospects sometimes getting lost in the shuffle. That's kind of the case with Hobson, who authored a fine junior season in 2025. Ther versatile performer carried 28 times for 159 yards and two touchdowns. On defense, he totaled 33.0 tackles with 26 of the stops being solo. He recorded 4.5 tackles for loss, a sack and an interception. He blocked a punt and gained 30 yards on three returns. His 11th-grade highlight video reveals a dynamic athlete that could work at multiple positions in college. His best fit right now appears to be a safety whose athleticism helps him stick with receivers in coverage and physicality aids in run support. Special teams' contributions also add to the profile.

Freking was a tackling machine in 2025 for a program with a strong history at the linebacker position. The junior racked up 68.0 tackles, 45 of which were solo stops. He recorded 12.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, two interceptions and a forced fumble. When watching his 11th-grade highlight video, Freking stands out for his combination of physicality, straight-line speed and lateral quickness. He diagnoses what's coming his way quickly and flies to the football. Freking is athletic and fast, which helps him lock up in coverage. His frame is such that it can fill out quite a bit more without slowing him down or comprising agility. Freking is a prospect deserving of more attention along the recruiting trail.
