We're excited to release our introduction to Iowa's 2029 Class this week. The Watch List includes 200 freshmen from around the state, a group that is sure to grow. Our 2026 rankings recognize almost 900 student-athletes.

The '29 rundown caps off our recent series of updates. The others can be found at the following links: 2026, 2027, 2028.

Updating and growing previous classes always is enjoyable. That said, a first-time release begins a special journey for all involved.

The wide receiver position is one that is growing in the state. More prep programs are producing prospects for the next level than ever before at that spot. This Iowa 2029 group has a chance to be special.

[player_tooltip player_id='2079355' first='Kam' last='Chapman'] is on the radar of the in-state Power 4 programs. The Johnston freshman visited Iowa and Iowa State during a season that saw him catch 25 balls for 673 yards and 14 touchdowns in just six non-varsity games. His highlights are impressive.

[player_tooltip player_id='1939547' first='Devonta' last='Toe'] is another in-state ninth-grader garnering interest from Power 4 programs already. The Waukee Northwest freshman attended an Iowa game and also has heard from Iowa State. He's physically advanced and versatile. Receiver could be the spot on the next level, but other options remain open.

[player_tooltip player_id='2119173' first='Naylor' last='Glass'] is refining his game and waiting his turn at Sioux City East. It's a program that does well developing prospects for the next level, and the freshman flashes potential to be the next in line during his 2025 highlight tape.

[player_tooltip player_id='2119779' first='Tate' last='DeRouchey'] spent his freshman year of 2025 preparing for future contributions on an Ankeny Centennial varsity roster usually featuring plenty of next-level talent. A path to contributions on the Jaguars' top team is apparent when watching his highlight video from the fall.

Cedar Falls will need young receivers to step up next season, and sophomore-to-be [player_tooltip player_id='1992467' first='Caleb' last='Dickey'] has the ability to be one of those guys. As I wrote recently, when watching clips on his Hudl page, Dickey looks beyond his years in terms of physicality, skills and technique.

[player_tooltip player_id='2119140' first='Kain' last='Hale'] should have Johnston fans excited for his future. Clips on his Hudl page reveal a dynamic player on both sides of the ball. The freshman gashes defenses after the catch or on handoffs and locks down defensively in the secondary.

[player_tooltip player_id='1656822' first='Maddon' last='McIntire'] caught my attention at last year's Back2Ballin 7 on 7 tournament in Cedar Falls. The Clear Lake freshman produced more evidence last fall that he's one to watch moving forward. As he shows during his ninth-grade highlight video, McIntire could keep developing at receiver but has the athleticism to succeed elsewhere. It should be fun to watch.

Lewis Central annually produces prospects for the next level. [player_tooltip player_id='2119942' first='Jack' last='Scieszinski'] is on track to put himself in that position after spending his freshman year getting bigger, stronger and faster. His Hudl page contains evidence.

[player_tooltip player_id='1909643' first='Jay' last='William'] gives Storm a playmaker to feature for the next three years. An accomplished hooper, the freshman is just scratching the surface of what he can be on the gridiron. If there were stock, I'd buy.

[player_tooltip player_id='2081150' first='Lovelle' last='Jones'] laid the foundation for what might be a memorable career at Iowa City High as a freshman in 2025. His highlight video offers evidence of a well-rounded receiver with upside.

[player_tooltip player_id='2045848' first='Jackson' last='Phelps'] will look to break into the Dowling Catholic rotation in 2026 after spending his freshman year at Des Moines Christian. On his highlight video, we see a prospect that could develop nicely at multiple positions, receiver being one of them.

[player_tooltip player_id='1909614' first='Luis' last='Pineda'] ranked among the most productive ninth-graders in the state this past fall. His highlight video features him lining up in the slot and ripping up defenses.
