Prep Redzone AL's 2025 All-State Team: LB Selections

What an incredible season! With the year coming to an end, it's time for us to give our All-State selections!   Today, we're focusing on some of the most dominant LBs in the state!   You won't want to miss out on this group of talent. Be sure to check out their film below. Now, here we go:   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">7A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1234251' first='Harrison' last='Malone'] is a talented LB from Hewitt-Trussville who made a big impact in the 7A this fall.   "Malone is an athletic and instinctual defender who flies around the field to come up with stops nearly every down. Malone is really impressive against the run; he's quick to find the ball, gets downhill, and fills in rushing lanes to rack up tackles for little to no gain.   Malone is just as impressive against the pass. He's a reliable defender out in coverage with great field vision and ball skills- he consistently takes the ball through the air and gets his hands in front of targets to jar the ball free and haul in interceptions."   Malone had a huge season this fall, recording 79 total tackles (8 for loss), and 2 sacks, constantly making an impact on Hewitt-Trussville's defense.     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">6A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='2099490' first='Quinten' last='Lowe'] emerged as one of Clay Chalkville's defenders last fall, flying around the field to create stops against some of the best in the 6A all year long.   "Lowe is a force against the run. He flies downhill, is great at getting behind the line of scrimmage, and frequently meets the ballcarrier in the hole for stops for loss/little gain. I'm really impressed with how easily he can shed off blockers- he's quick, aggressive, and does a great job using his leverage and strength to explode and break past offensive linemen.   Lowe is just as disruptive against the pass. He's a talented blitzer who can heat up and affect the quarterback in some huge ways. Everyone needs to watch out for this kid in 2026; he's got a ton of talent to showcase."   Lowe was terrific last fall, recording 115 total tackles (17 for loss), 2 sacks, 5 PBUs, and several hurries.   Be sure to check out some of Lowe's film down below. I know we're all excited to watch him here in 2026. He's a talented, talented player.     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">5A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1127636' first='Ellis' last='McGaskin'], a Notre Dame commit, has been a massive piece of Williamson's defense his whole career, terrorizing teams across the 5A.   "McGaskin plays with tons of speed, strength, and relentless pursuit that make him a massive threat to opposing offenses.   McGaskin can track down and tackle skill players with great ease, no matter where he initially lines up- he has the speed to make sideline-to-sideline plays and does so at a constant rate.“   Last season, McGaskin recorded 160 total tackles (26 for loss), 4 sacks, and multiple PBUs and FFs. He's a talented LB with a seriously bright future ahead.     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">4A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1127661' first='Luke' last='Brewer'] has landed as our pick in the 4A. He brought a ton of production to Ashville's defense this year.   "Brewer is a dominant run defender. He's excellent at filling in rushing lanes and making tackles at/behind the line of scrimmage. It's so hard for offenses to find any rhythm in their rushing game with how good he is at identifying and reacting to plays. Brewer is also an excellent tackler. He wraps up really well, can dish out some big hits, and has the speed to make tons of sideline-to-sideline plays all over the field.   One of the most impressive things I saw in Brewer's tape is seeing how he performs on the goal line. Brewer uses his excellent play recognition/run-defending skills to shut down offenses in the red zone. He single-handedly stopped several TD-scoring plays last season, consistently flying into the backfield to create huge plays for loss when it mattered most."   Brewer had a huge year for Ashville's defense, racking up 170 total tackles (130 solo, 20 for loss), and 2 sacks.   Brewer has found a ton of success over the last two years. He has a huge senior year ahead.     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">3A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1906802' first='Kadence' last='Conn'] is a talented LB from Locust Fork who's coming in as our selection in the 3A this year.   "Conn is a dominant run defender. He flies downhill, fills in gaps, and takes down RBs by the line of scrimmage for little to no gain every carry. Conn's really impressive in pursuit. He can create sideline-to-sideline stops using his speed, and is an intelligent defender who's always in the right position to make plays."   Conn had a fantastic season this fall, recording 144 total tackles (70 solo, 19 for loss), and 3 sacks on the year.   I'm excited to see what Conn does next year over at Locust Fork. He's a talented LB with a big senior season ahead of him.     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">2A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1610243' first='Harwood' last='Beeker'] is coming off another dominant season in the 2A, making our All-State team for the second year in a row.   "Beeker is a versatile MLB capable of providing huge stops against the run, great coverage over the middle of the field, and sideline-to-sideline plays against some tough-skill players. Beeker is excellent in pursuit and has great closing speed- he doesn't give up on plays, is terrific at tracking the ball carrier, and can close quickly to tackle or pick off passes.   I love watching Beeker in coverage; he matches up well against a wide variety of different pass catchers and has the instincts and ball skills to create a ton of huge plays."   Beeker was unstoppable again this year- racking up 148 total tackles (106 solo, 9 for loss) and 2 sacks.   I'm a huge fan of Beeker and can't wait to watch him this next year. He's a talented defender for Tuscaloosa Academy. Be sure to watch him below:     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">1A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1881618' first='Caleb' last='Massey'] is a talented LB who had a breakout season for Billinglsey in the 1A this past fall.   “Massey is a highly athletic LB who flies into the backfield nearly every down. He's quick to react, has impressive speed and pursuit skills, and is constantly finding his way into the backfield to create huge stops.   I'm really impressed with Massey's blitzing. He can quickly get past the line of scrimmage and generate pressure/sacks on the quarterback, creating huge splash plays when his defense needs them most.“   Massey had a breakout season for Billingsley this fall, recording 158 total tackles (85 solo, 18 for loss) and 4 sacks.   I became a big fan of Massey's throughout this season. He's a talented defender who came away with a ton of stops this year. We all need to watch out for him next fall.
