Next Up in Alabama: 2028 WRs to Watch This Offseason

Here is a close look at some 2028 wide receivers in Alabama who could pick up some serious recruiting attention this offseason.    Several P4 offers under his belt indicate the caliber of player Williams is, and I would pay close attention to him again this offseason. True YAC threat who doubles as a prolific returner. Explosive, almost RB-like frame and ability in space. Fast foot speed allows him to subtly change direction and dart around traffic. Williams is dynamic with the ball and should garner plenty of attention this offseason.     Gordon is a tall, lean, loose player who still has his best ball ahead of him. He is quick off the line, can get to his top speed quickly, and also flashes some nuance. He has a true ability to contribute at each level of the field. He can dip his weight, shift his weight, and lean in his routes to separate. A loose athlete who is only going to improve as his traits come along.     Ballard is one of the more productive sophomore pass catchers in the state and will likely garner buzz as both a receiver and a tight end. He is a mismatch threat on the outside, but his natural development might project him to TE. Regardless, he is a towering basketball prospect with natural mismatch ability. With little effort, he can outstride and out-reach DBs. There is plenty of upside in the tank here, especially as his nuance comes along.     I have long been a fan of Crenshaw. He is a towering, thin player with prototype traits. He is a big target down the field, but he is also loose and light on his feet. He is a long strider who is still a little raw as an athlete. As this guy grows, he should continue developing into what I think of him, which is a P4 prospect. One of my favorites in Alabama at the moment.     Johnson has generated some buzz around his name two years into his HS career, and his production this last fall adds more context to that. He is a lean, thin player with room to add more weight. He is a sudden athlete, quick to his top speed. His long strides help him separate in space. He maintains his speed through cuts and changes of direction. He is good now and has the upside to get even better. Definitely someone who is a candidate to pick up some recruiting traction this offseason.     Vaden doubles as a baseball player and already has an early football offer from Murray State. Vaden is a broad-shouldered, stout player with an RB build. He is a gadgety player, getting a variety of different opportunities with the football. He is explosive in the short areas, helping him beat defenders to a spot and knife through traffic. It was a productive fall for Vaden.     Walton is underrated, but he is someone I am watching closely, and have been since I saw him at our Southern Brawl 7v7 a year ago. Here is what I had to dish on Walton after that event:   "Braedyn Walton was one of the top playmakers for the GCA Waves squad. He consistently found himself open in the short areas due to his explosiveness. After the catch, he has some serious burst and is notably stouter than most prospects at the event. Walton is well-developed for his age, super explosive, and can make things happen after the catch. I would keep an eye on him as he continues to generate more exposure at events such as this one. He had several TD grabs all weekend."     Gonzalez produced as a sophomore in a recruiting hotbed against good competition, making him an obvious candidate to pick up some recruiting traction. Gonzalez is an obvious YAC guy with his size, but he tracks the ball well down the field for his size. He has flashes of explosiveness at break points, helping him separate and create hesitation in DBs. Gonzalez is extremely explosive, sudden, and can stack moves. Very excited to see how he develops and builds off his sophomore season.
