Film Room: 2025 Receiving Leaders

Here's a look at my aval on the top 5 receiving leaders from this fall:    I truly think we are witnessing one of the most special skill players that will ever come out of AZ here with this explosive Sophomore. A crafty, well polished receiver with the ability to dominant at all 3 levels of the field. He flashes quick, active feet and does a great job setting up his routes with an explosive burst at the top of the route. Soft, natural hands with the ability to extend past his radius and snag anything within his vicinity. Oliver is elite after the catch with excellent top end speed, twitch, change of direction, and does all of these swiftly. Excellent positional IQ and spatial awareness to recognize zone coverage and sit in open zones, while also knowing when to look for the ball- contributing to his tracking ability. He scored in every game he played in with the exception being Cesar Chavez, where the starters were removed early in a 63-0 blowout. Oliver finished the year with 92 receptions for 1,839 yards and 29 TD's, and currently holds 18 offers. A national level recruit that already looks to be a sure difference maker at the P4 level, and still has 2 more years to go.     Another dominating sophomore that is blooming into a true division 1 talent, Little racked up over 1,400 yards receiving and 18 TD's. Solid route runner that was utilized in the slot or "3" receiver often, as he displays a good initial burst off the ball- but does a great job running up the DB's toes and exploding out of the top of his route to generate clear separation. Very dangerous after the catch as he possesses the twitch and top end speed to make you miss or burn you with pure speed, but also possesses good physicality to throw opponents off of him and bust loose (Play 1:30 on film). Along with these, he shows good ball skills all around with body control, and can be a vertical threat to go up and win those contested catches. A very promising prospect that should see his recruitment explode here soon.     Speir played a major role on both sides of the ball to help lead Ben Franklin to a 3A State Championship appearance, racking up 1,336 yards and 16 TD's on 67 receptions. He possesses a larger than usual catch radius within his 6'2" frame with good body control, frequently showing the ability to extend past his frame and haul in catches from various angles. A well polished receiver as he shows the ability to work all levels with integrity, secure the catch in traffic, win contested jump-balls, beat you vertically with speed, or become a bully after the catch with physicality. Speir remains uncommitted and whoever lands this kid will be getting a gem.     Cannon hauled in 73 receptions for over 1,300 yards and 12 TD's, putting himself on the map as a top WR that shows high promise for next fall. A sure vertical threat that shows loose hips and does a fantastic job setting up double moves to get DB's to fully commit to something inside/outside or shallow before immediately busting vertically upfield with clear separation. He tracks the ball well and does a solid job securing the catch across the middle through traffic.     Watts-Diver finished 5th in the state with 1,270 yards and 9 TD's on 70 receptions. A versatile, big play threat with excellent top end speed that he knows how to use and set up. He does a great job making decisive cuts after the catch and shows the natural ability/understanding on how to create space, and can truly make one cut and be gone. He displays really good route integrity to frequently get back on his vertical stem after utilizing a variety of ways to generate enough space while manipulating DB's.
