With each update the Class of ‘28 continues to grow stronger and stronger. More talent has been discovered yet again. Especially after an impressive 2025 season from several unranked players.

This latest group of newcomers consisted of more than 25 prospects from across the Sunflower State. I revealed five of those players in my preview of the update a week ago, and I plan to highlight more of them over the next week. For now though, we'll be taking a look at some of the players that headline this recent group of newcomers. See where they landed inside the Top 50.

If folks didn't know about [player_tooltip player_id='2101940' first='Cannon' last='Zubeck'] in 2025, then they definitely will in 2026. Zubeck made his debut in the rankings at No. 6 overall and is the 2nd ranked OL prospect in the class. He's quickly becoming a hot commodity, as he's already received D-I offers from Kansas, Kansas State, and Northwestern University. I'd expect for him to pick up several more offers throughout this year.

[player_tooltip player_id='2103518' first='Cole' last='Haynes'] - Maize South, 6'4”, 220, Edge

Checking in at No. 14 overall is Haynes of Maize South. This high debut comes after Haynes recorded 61 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and fours sacks in 2025. He's an exceptional three-sport athlete and has a bright future as an edge rusher.

[player_tooltip player_id='2101915' first='Izrael' last='Telles'] - Salina South, 6'2”, 180, QB

Salina South's young gunslinger caught our staff's attention in mid-October, and now he's making his official debut. He burst onto the varsity scene in 2025 and emerged as one of the top passers in Class 5A. Telles entered the rankings at No. 18 overall and is the 2nd ranked quarterback in the class.

[player_tooltip player_id='2103536' first='Carter' last='Baker'] - Eisenhower, 6'4”, 205, Edge

The edge rusher position is quickly becoming one of the top groups in this recruiting class. Baker of Eisenhower is the third edge prospect to crack the Top 50 in this update. He debuted as the 27th ranked prospect overall after racking up 64 total tackles and 13 tackles for loss as a sophomore. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound edge rusher is set to join the Eisenhower Tigers this year after previously playing for Garden Plain High School.

[player_tooltip player_id='2101917' first='Gavin' last='Mitchell'] - Basehor-Linwood, 5'10”, 200, RB

Another position group that got stronger during this update was running back. Mitchell of Basehor had arguably the best 2025 season out of all the incoming RB prospects. The sophomore came on strong during the Bobcats' run at the 5A title. In five postseason games Mitchell rushed for 568 yards and seven touchdowns. His outstanding play brings him into the rankings at No. 35 overall.

[player_tooltip player_id='2101933' first='Zayden' last='Allen'] - Wichita Heights, 6'0”, 195, DB/LB

Allen of Wichita Heights rounds off the Top 50 in this January update. He was a tackling machine in 2025, and he'll arguably be Heights' top returning defender next season. Allen finished his sophomore season accumulating 106 total tackles and seven pass breakups. He debuted as the 8th ranked prospect at his position.
