When it comes to college football recruiting, the rules have drastically changed over the past few years.

With the Transfer Portal in full swing, high school athletes have a window that is shorter than ever before – and for that reason – their career moves along quicker than ever before.

College transfers have seriously affected the process – with high school prospects now having to get a Plan B, and often times a Plan C when it comes to making immediate plans.

With millions of dollars flowing through the pockets of these student/athletes in today's society, the opportunity to stay at one college is no longer an option for many.

The high school recruiting that we once knew is no longer in place if you happen to be one of those athletes who are not viewed as elite or high star rated.

The need to have a backup plan is greater than ever before, and while the process is speeding up every year, making your decision is something that is longer dragged out. You commit to a school now – or pay the consequences of there not being a scholarship available when you do make a decision.

Because there are so many roster moves made each year, the word permanent is no longer a work that is used.

Way before these young men start their final year in high school, a decision needs to be made – with a backup plan – just in case things don't workout.

If you happen to be a Class of 2027 rising senior, the next few months are crucial to your immediate future, and today, we look at five Class of 2027 prospects who will be watched at camps, combines, 7-on-7 events and other exposure opportunities along the way.

J.D. Brown, QB, 6'3, 195, Santa Rosa Beach South Walton – 3.933 GPA. After an 8-4 season and a regional semifinal appearance, this quality talent had the chance to get some extra film and for different recruiters and media to watch him perform. What they saw was a gifted player who picked up experience while developing leadership skills. His 2,558 yards and 29 overall touchdowns (6 on the ground) were enough to showcase his skills. Completing 64 percent of his passes was enough for the Seahawks to score 320 points this season before losing to Pensacola Catholic in the state playoffs.

Maleek Lee, Athlete, 6'3, 260, Sarasota Booker. Is it any wonder why this impressive talent is getting so much interest in the off-season!
