The time has come to award the 2025 New Mexico Heisman to the most deserving player. Here are the three finalists:

Manual Chavarria, Bloomfield: Few quarterbacks in recent memory have had a better season than Chavarria. He led the Bobcats to their second consecutive Class 4A state championship (and third in the last four years) by throwing for a state-high 3,577 yards and 53 touchdowns, the fourth highest single season total in state history. Only two quarterbacks have thrown for more TDs in a single season. He also rushed for 662 yards, including a season high 109 yards on 16 carries in the title game against St. Pius X. Chavarria was rewarded for patiently waiting his turn after sitting behind Blake Spencer for a couple of seasons.

[player_tooltip player_id='851873' first='Jordan' last='Kekoa Hatch'], Cleveland: What's most impressive about Hatch is he improved his numbers every year during his three-year tenure as Cleveland's starting quarterback. Completions, passing yardage, completion percentage, passing yards per game and total TD passes all steadily climbed as he led the Storm to two consecutive Class 6A state championships. His accuracy was incredible in 2025 as he completed 75.2 percent of his passes for 40 TD passes, compiling an impressive QB rating of 145.6. He threw 90 TD passes and just 14 interceptions in nearly 700 career pass attempts. He'll graduate from CHS as one of the best quarterbacks in school history. The 2025 Gatorade Player of the Year in New Mexico.

[player_tooltip player_id='1137388' first='Daniel' last='Amaro'], Las Cruces: The best running back in New Mexico for 2025 was named the 2025 MaxPreps Player of the Year. Amaro rushed for 1,927 yards on 193 carries, averaging about 10 yards per carry. His nose for the end zone is unmatched. In 2025, he rushed for 42 touchdowns, the second highest single season total in state history. Whenever Las Cruces drove into the red zone, Amaro did his thing. But he was capable of going the distance from midfield or beyond as well. Fearless runner. He didn't shy away from contact. He eclipsed 200 rushing yards four times this past season, including 234 yards and 3 TD in the Bulldawgs' semifinals win at Las Cruces.

In an extremely close battle, the winner of the 2025 New Mexico Heisman is. . .Manual Chavarria!

Congratulations, Manual!
