Prep Redzone AL's 2025 All-State Team: EDGE Selections

What an incredible season! With the year coming to an end, it's time for us to give our All-State selections!   Today, we're focusing on some of the most dominant EDGE prospects in the state!   You won't want to miss out on this group of talent. Be sure to check out their film below. Now, here we go:   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">7A</h2>    Michael Chobey, a junior EDGE over at Huntsville, broke out as one of the top pass rushers in the 7A this year.   “Chobey is a dominant run defender- he's quick off the snap, has violent hands, and has the speed, leverage, and strength to consistently work around OL and get to the ball carrier for stops. Chobey plays with relentless effort and is a reliable tackler who makes a lot of impressive plays in pursuit, sometimes working from across the field to make plays.   On passing downs, Chobey has similar success. He's an efficient pass rusher who generates tons of pressure, forces bad decisions, and racks up sacks nearly every time the quarterback drops back.“   Chobey was unstoppable for Huntsville this year, racking up 50 total tackles (31 solo, 18.5 for loss), 14.5 sacks, 6 hurries, 4 PBUs, and 2 FRs. He has a huge senior year ahead of him next year.     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">6A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1664750' first='Keith' last='Richmond'] is a talented EDGE who produced all throughout Clay Chalkville's state title run this fall.   "Richmond is a versatile linebacker who can make impact plays on and off the ball in a variety of different ways. Richmond is a force at EDGE. He's a dominant run defender with an unstoppable motor and impressive strength, which he uses to fight off blockers and get to the RB for huge stops.   Richmond is just as disruptive off the line of scrimmage. He has the speed and instincts to quickly locate the ball and cover ground to come up with huge stops all over the field."   Richmond was constantly disruptive this season, recording 50 total tackles (36 solo, 22 for loss), 12 sacks, 17 hurries, and 3 FFs.   I'm excited to watch Richmond this upcoming year. He was seriously impressive for Clay-Chalkville's defense down the stretch and has a bright senior year ahead of him. We all need to look out for him next season.     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">5A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1189059' first='Jabarrius' last='Garror'] had another incredible year on Vigor's defensive front, dominating offenses all across the 5A.   “Garror is extremely athletic coming off the edge- he has an explosive first step,  quick/aggressive hands, and plays with an elite combination of size, speed, and pursuit that makes him a game-wrecker every down. It doesn't matter what opposing offenses attempt to run; Garror has the natural ability to quickly diagnose and blow up plays.   Garror is a special pass rusher. He completely wrecks the line of scrimmage every snap and flies into the backfield to generate tons of pressure and sacks."   Garror was incredibly productive, recording 106 total tackles (44 solo, 32.5 for loss), 21 sacks, 18 hurries, and one FF.   I've been a huge fan of Garror's. He can impact the game in so many ways and will be a massive factor in this week's matchup. Make sure you watch some of his clips below:     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">4A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='2048395' first='Donnivan' last='Bozeman'] is a talented EDGE out of Jackson who made a ton of huge stops for his defense this year.   "Bozeman explodes off the line of scrimmage, is physical at the point of attack, and consistently helps provide great run defense upfront. I'm really impressed with Bozeman's motor and pursuit. He's a high-effort defender who works through multiple blockers and covers lots of space to create stops.   I think Bozemna is a really well-rounded EDGE with plenty of room to develop even more. With his size, speed, and physicality, he easily makes an impact on every down."   Bozeman ended the year with 91 total tackles (46 solo, 21 for loss), 9 sacks, 21 hurries, and 2 FFs.   Bozeman put together a really impressive season for Jackson's defense. If you haven't watched him before, make sure you check out some of his film below:     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">3A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1610217' first='Braden' last='Gordon'] has become one of the state's top prospects in the 2027 class, and has especially made an impact at EDGE in the 3A.   "Defensively, Gordon completely overwhelms OL off the edge to create huge stops in the backfield. He uses his speed to his advantage and consistently pursues the ball carrier/quarterback to make impressive hustle plays nearly every snap.“   Gordon was unstoppable this year, recording 10 sacks, 17 TFLs, and 65 total tackles.   I'm really excited to watch Gordon in his senior year. He's a talented player with a ton to offer at the next level. We all need to watch out for him moving forward.     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">2A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1624275' first='Ryan' last='Bullock'] is a talented OLB from Greene County who made a lot of plays in the 2A this past season.   Bullock is a dominant force off the edge who can defend the run extremely well- he completely collapses rushing lanes all on his own, fighting off blockers to make his way and take down the ball carrier near the line of scrimmage. Bullock is really good in pursuit- he pays with a ton of effort and will work his way across the field to make some impressive hustle plays.   Bullock is just as impressive against the pass- he generates a ton of pressure as a pass rusher, and can also make plays on the ball out in coverage, making him an every-down threat to opposing offenses.   Bullock flew around the field this fall, ending the year with 50 total tackles (32 solo, 10 for loss), 4 sacks.   Make sure you check out some of Bullock's tape below. He has a big season ahead of him this upcoming fall.     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">1A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1881618' first='Caleb' last='Massey'] is a talented force off the EDGE over at Billinglsey, and had a productive year this fall in the 1A.   “Massey is a highly athletic LB who flies into the backfield nearly every down. He's quick to react, has impressive speed and pursuit skills, and is constantly finding his way into the backfield to create huge stops.   I'm really impressed with Massey's blitzing. He can quickly get past the line of scrimmage and generate pressure/sacks on the quarterback, creating huge splash plays when his defense needs them most.“   Massey was incredibly productive, recording 158 total tackles (85 solo, 18 for loss) and 4 sacks.
